205/65 R16 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 rated 86%
while driving a Toyota Camry
Driving on a combination of roads for 39000 spirited miles
I'll start with the positives:
1- High safety with these tires. Despite having approximately three studs per tire, I didn't experience any vibration or sudden blowouts from any tire, even while driving at speeds exceeding 120 km/h.
2- The grip level remained almost constant over two years of use in desert city weather. The difference between the first day of use and the last was negligible, especially considering the high speeds I typically took on turns. This contrasts with other tire brands where the difference between old and new tires is significant.
3- Very low wear rate and long tire life. I reached 50,000 km with approximately half the tread remaining.
4- Excellent comfort.
5- Very quiet tire noise when new.

Disadvantages:
1- The biggest problem with this tire is its tendency to pick up nails from the road. Each tire has approximately three nail holes, a problem I haven't experienced with any other tire from any other company.
2- There's a significant difference in noise level between the new and old tires.

Writing about the Michelin e.Primacy rated 43%
while driving a Mercedes Benz E220Cdi
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 average miles
With Mercedes w211 very poor tire. Dangerous and unpredictable. The car was always with esp active even if I didn’t notice the car was sliding the front, in slow inclined curves. To the point that the mechanic thought it was a problem with the car. Bad in dry , long distance for braking and a nightmare in wet sliding the front of the car abruptly.
Mostly had Michelin tires with no problems.
Last ones were primacy 4 made in Poland and no problems. These e primacy Mo certified, are from Spain and so far the worst tire I had.
Spent several hundred euros in tests with the car because we thought it was a mechanical problem. Even changed all abs sensors. The car is fine.
Changed for Toyo and the car is normal again.
Representative from Michelin didn’t comment or was of any help.
May be bad luck with these ones. However they last much more then average. If only they were not dangerous would be perfect.
Less noise then the Toyos and comfortable if going straight ahead.
Tried all the pressures recommended in Mercedes manual. Didn’t made any difference.

Writing about the Vredestein Quatrac rated 91%
while driving a Dacia Duster 4x4
Driving on mostly country roads for 6000 easy going miles
Exceptional tire I mounted these on Dacia Duster 4x4 and grip is unlimited, I can floor the car in any conditions, dry wet and snow.
Vredestein always gives very good feedback and steering feel while also being comfortable, these are more comfortable and less sporty than the Quatrac PRO.
It's much cheaper than Michelin for example but quality is not far off and when you consider these tires last for 60-80tkm they're the best value possible because quality is great and price is good. After 15tkm the tread is like new so they'll last over 50tkm for sure (my Quatrac Pro on Audi A3 lasted almost 80tkm which is insane)
Would recommend without any doubt if you can get them cheaper than some Conti or Bridgestone (for negligible price difference these two still give slightly better performance)

while driving a Hyundai Sonata 2017
Driving on mostly country roads for 0 easy going miles
dollar per dollar...as good as it gets. on my 2015 sonata and very pleased. it looks really nice also. says made in Indonesia on sidewall. I've Neve had a lower priced tire that is so sweet. as long as these are made that are a must for all my cars, and I have 4 of them. tune out the tire snobs and their bias. these are excellent.

Writing about the Falken Linam VAN01 rated 88%
while driving a Vauxhall Vivaro
Driving on mostly country roads for 100 spirited miles
Confidence inspiring tires.
Covered over 100 miles on them in mostly wet conditions.
The old tires with approx 3mm tread were always spinning on roundabouts when accelerating from stationary.
Conversely these tires are sticking to the roads well, I have had only 1 small spin on the left tire. Considering the state of the road surface and my acceleration, this is acceptable.
Compared with other vans, I have found the Vivaro to be quick to spin front tires and sometimes under steer.
Therefore it is good to have tires which are grippy and responsive for a reasonable price.
Can’t comment on road noise/mpg - it’s a van so it is noisy and seems to average 33mpg whatever.
I would definitely buy this tire again.

Writing about the General Eurovan Winter 2 rated 51%
while driving a Nissan Primastar
Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 average miles
These tires look good and grip fairly well in all conditions but that's where the positives end. They wear out quite quickly and I've had one so badly out of shape it's like a rugby ball, causing extremely bad vibrations (I've never seen anything like it) only 18months old. At this price point and with the 'General' name I expected far more; in all honesty you'd be better with a budget. The side walls are like cheese, they split and are cut by the passing air, they are hard as concrete, providing little road feedback or comfort. In short spend your money elsewhere

Writing about the Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 rated 84%
while driving a Toyota Camry
Driving on a combination of roads for 2500 average miles
WS90 work much better than Michelin CrossClimate2s in below -10°C weather and on hard ice. The CC2s are excellent on snow. WS90s allow decent acceleration on a front-two wheel drive camry. There is a small amount of slip on initial acceleration on ice. I found them better than my previous Michelin Xi2s for handling and braking dry and wet. They also cost less than Michelin X-ice tires. But, have not had them long enough (bought mid-Jan 2022) to know how well they will wear. Overall, a great tire for extreme cold -35°C and icy roads in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. P.S. check your report of Consumer Reports test. Their test says braking in wet conditions is fair not handling which is good in their test. You stated that Consumer Reports said that handling is below average. Not so.

Writing about the BFGoodrich Advantage TA Sport rated 67%
while driving a Kia Motors Optima
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 spirited miles
To preface, I drive my car hard and love taking backroads. This tire has a surprising amount of cornering grip and imparts a nice firm feeling into steering wheel. These tires egg you on to put more power in the corners to a point but they don't lose control. On center feel is a bit vague but steering is very responsive. Comfortable ride even if tire noise is a little louder than I'd want it. Very good handling and around town performance in dry conditions. Surprisingly these tires allow a 1500 kg FWD car to rotate into turns ever so slightly. In the wet, the experience falls apart some. Wet traction is just not that good. Accelerating from a stop or turning and accelerating from a stop when there's even the thinnest layer of rain water on the road is difficult. My engine makes peak torque from a low RPM (1750 RPM) so I've learned to baby the throttle in those situations. Too often do they cause the traction control lights to flash. They caused the car to terminally understeer on a highway exit ramp after a horrible rainstorm and I noticed it hydroplaned slowly when I was going across an intersection. Luckily no one was around or else I would've slowly drifted into the adjacent lane and might have caused an accident. Very slow and very steady is the way to go in the wet with these. Braking performance isn't great but it isn't bad. It gets a bit worse in the rain. Overall, for the price, these tires are very good in the dry but if you need something that's confidence inspiring in the wet, make sure you do your research on all the available options.
