I fitted these on both my GR Yaris and A110 Alpine both road and track. These are by far the best choice economically. On the track they are predictable , grippy and user friendly much like AR1 Quick to come on, great turn in and no snap oversteer. The big surprise is the very creditable wet grip, so good that I have no temptation to change rubber for the winter. The super economy is that one set of wheels is enough. No more lying on the cold ground changing wheels.

Very very noisey. They are ok there first heat cycle but they don’t wake up after that couldn’t get under 2 minutes at Phillip island when it’s normally in the mid 1.50s so they are cheap for a reason. I wouldn’t buy again should of stayed with Dunlops semis as they are good until they're bald, I’d keep away personally

Running these tires in autocross events in Swift Sport, they need an effort to be driven to the limit, glues to the track, runs happy with modified suspension and negative camber, tire presssure plays vital role on how they perform, day and night difference in performance at different psi’s
Was wondering what was all the rave about the re71rs, so i decided to get these tires for my daily after my AD08R had worn down to 40% (4 years of use). After breaking in for 500km and turned it down to 30psi, I had my first chance to hoon around. I was gobsmack, the dry grip is just unbelievable. I cant say how much lateral grip this tire holds, the tires were just begging for me to push. If i was on my Michelin PS5, the car would had wrap itself around a tree. Turn in was crisp and sharp. I would expect it to be loud too, but it wasn’t. The comfort and tire noise was comparable to my PS5 (winter set). I would highly recommend this tire, even for your daily. The tire has transformed my Type R to a complete street weapon. I cant say much about wear or wet review yet, but will update this as it go. I don’t mind the wear tbh (even if it last only 10000km with aggressive street driving), as I have already committed/able to replaced these tires every year. So Im not too fuss about wear. If you want downright GRIP. This is it, bar-none.

This will be the end of life review for this tire (25000miles /40000km). I have run 2 sets of ad08r back to back. My car is 2019 FK8 FBO Custom tuned , FWD (350whp 510nm) . I love this tire when it was new. It grips well, handles well, road feedback and all I would give 9/10. Wet 7/10 and comfort 7/10. The tire lasted 2 years before I really had to change it. Reason: The tire noise was just too much for me to bear, sounds like a wheel bearing gone bad just about at any speed. The tread still had 30% left though. I would personally say this tire is great when new-mid life, but after mid life and going beyond 2 years, minus “2 points” on all categories that I’ve ranked initially. Of course with all tires, the scores would drop, thats expectable. However most people replace tires when worn, but for this tire its actually the noise, it’s just unbearable. Despite that i would still rate highly for ad08r even though they stopped making it. I would personally use it no more than 18 months. After that, discard it even if you still have treads left. Overall, I am happy with it throughout its use. Kept me safe both spirited driving on the streets and total 3 light track duty (3 sessions of 3-5 short laps with 80-90% effort). To buy again, I don’t think so. I’ve moved on, now with Potenza RE71RS, currently that tire is the grippiest tire I've ever put on my FK8 imo, a bar up from A052. But then again this can change as it ages/wear, will review them later mid life/end life.
I race a 370z in time attack up in Ontario, Canada and these tires get overlooked by a lot of drivers that solely run CR-S and I can’t understand why. Over my last two years, 13 races, with about a handful of lapping days I’ve went through two sets and have already bought my third set. The tires in the dry, handle phenomenally!! The cars becomes very predictable pre corner and in corner and you can really put the power down on exit! I have never had issues with heat soaking. They do like higher hot psi, I run fronts around 35psi and rears around 34psi (depending on air and track temps as well). They build up speed and hold consistent lap times once at full hot operating temps, usually my first lap is slowest and 3rd lap is fastest. Tremendous amounts of grip as well throughout a race day.
Wet driving on road and track are amazing as well! On the wet road they’re just any other ordinary tire with lots of grip (provided they have tread still), on a wet track (which I haven’t had may wet track days) they held up better than I could have imagined, held grip throughout the wet until the track started drying off and never once encountered any under or oversteering. I was about 3-5 seconds slower in the wet vs dry time. On wet tracks I’d run 37psi front and 36psi rear.
Overall amazing longer lasting tire for a great price.
I thought I was buying the AD08R model but when I realised I had bought the RS I did some research and found out that the RS is a totally different tire compound designed to meet EU eco nonsense and is nothing like the old AD08R tire, apart from the tread pattern, which by the way does look really cool. I did manage to get a full refund and keep them as the outlet were advertising them as AD08R. Very misleading from YOKO where one little added S to the tire code made astronomical difference. Yes that's right, these are disappointing. On the road they feel like good quality road tires but as soon as you push them on a track they are useless. Tire squeal starts when you're no where near the limit, grip runs out way to early considering it's supposed to be a track focused tire. It appears to be a very hard compound so they have lasted me ages and have done about 4 trackdays and over 10,000 miles, still got 6mm in the rear and 3mm on the front so wear is very good but they are frustrating on track, however they grip surprising well in the wet for a semi-slick.
Road use in these is fine but pointless as there's just as good tires out there for cheaper. Yoko are obviously cashing in on a classic tire name and hoping people don't notice the S which must stand for Shite.

Dry and wet grip is fenomenal, when cold and normal driving it doesn't wear too much like softer tires and has great grip cold but when warmed up it outperforms other older semislicks. Easily 1+ second faster per "track minute" than a ToyoR888R. It's also a confortable semislick it doesnt create much noise thanks to its pattern. It is a premium dual purpose semislick, sad part is yokohama keeps increasing it's price.
I went from a 340 treadwear year-round performance tire to the RE71-RS on my E36 and they blew my mind right from the first trackday. The level of grip is just so much higher. I did run the pressures a little low at the first trackday and they got a bit hot after 4 hotlaps, but I bumped the pressures up slightly and they felt even better. In the damp and patches of standing water they are so good, no noticeable aquaplaning. I managed to better my PB around our local circuit by 1.0sec in the damp vs my previous PB which was in the dry. Super happy with them!

Ran 141 Autocross ish laps over 21 events. (on 3rd set of A052s)
Corded the pass side last event.
-295/30R18s on 18x11s, fit perfectly
Even nearly bald, the A052 had tons of grip left.
After 50 runs the tires lost about 0.5 seconds vs new.
After 100 runs they lost about 1 second but leveled off. No grip was lost from about 100 to 241 runs.
Tires need 1 good heat cycle before they really start griping well.
Note: THESE ARE NOT TRACK DAY TIRES!
they will overheat and grease off within 2-3 laps at a track.
Wet:
in damp ground these tires are KING at the Autocross or road course. The wet grip is unbelievable.
BUT, deep standing water defeats them like any other tire.
The A052 excel at low temps. I ran a damp rain event at 37F and the Yoks had zero issues.
Dry: again, 2021-2024 Solo nationals showed the A052 dominating the field. The dry grip as of 2024 is #1.
They warm up FAST. 1 run is all you need and the other 3 runs are all 100% flat out.
BUT, you can overheat the tires easily.
Start the run at 110-115F tire temp, and you'll have a good lap. Start above that and the tires will grease off before you finish a 50sec lap.
Tires loose a TON of grip over 135F.
Copious amounts of water Spraying is needed for hot days or dual drivers. I've used a 2 gallon sprayer and ran out before I got 8 runs in
Wear:
I got 141 ish runs over 21 events.
These tires need TONs of camber.
They have soft side walls and EAT shoulders without good camber
A minimum of -2.0 and ideally -3.0+
I know guys running -5.0 camber.
It’s made for the track. Super grippy. Best non-slick track tire I’ve used. If you’re using it for street driving it’s a waste of money. Better off with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
There's a very short half mile paved course (lap times around 45-50 seconds) near me that has lapping but no passing. The warm grip in the dry is second to none. They take a small amount of heat to really turn on, and have a few laps in them at peak grip before falling off to a more common grip level (but not bad by any means). I've compared them with the Kumho V730's at the same course and the Bridgestone's are ~1.5 seconds faster at their peak but near equal once *hot*, whereas the Kumho's are happy to put the same lap time down start to finish. I switched to V730's for my next set as the Bridgestones did wear appreciably quickly on the front of my FWD vehicle and are one of the more expensive tires in the class. However, I just bought another set of the Bridgestones as for now they seem to be the fastest 200TW that fits on my car and I missed that few extra % of maximum grip. These tires, like many 200tw, take a moment to respond to your steering input, but once they hook up, it feels as if you're on rails.
Driving to-and-from the track as well as a few commutes I was extremely impressed with the composure and livability of the tire. I also found myself in heavy rain with only ~50% of the tread left and hydroplaned very little considering the intended use of this tire. The RE71RS is NOT a rain tire, but it can safely get you to and from events if you're driving rationally in inclement weather.
In the category of "Super 200's", the RE71RS are a pace-setter for a reason. I purchased another set for time-attack style events and will strongly consider a set as a dedicated summer set when my Bridgestone Potenza Sports wear out.
