Continental Cross Contact UHP Reviews - Page 2

Given 51% while driving a Mitsubishi Outlander (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 8,000 easy going miles
I agree with the reviews of the Conti's, appalling wear, our car is a late 2012 outlander and has only just covered 8500 miles but the outer edge of the front tires are gone completely...as others we are gentle with the driving and cornering.

Ford Kuga (235/45 R19) on mostly country roads for 15,000 average miles
Much better than the previous bridgestone, noticable change in the fuel consumption, no problems in the snow and wet in aberdeenshire. 15000 miles so far with even wear after rotation. I will be using these again with out a doubt

Given 76% while driving a Land Rover Discovery Series 2 TD5 (255/50 R19 W) on mostly country roads for 120,000 average miles
Pretty good but not as good as the Goodyear F1 4x4 tire. These are fairly decent for high speed 4x4 tires but I have less confidence in cornering at speed in the wet. At the price I paid, well below published prices they represent good value considering their minimal wear rate which is probably due to being a slightly harder compound.

Given 54% while driving a Porsche cayenne s (255/55 R18) on a combination of roads for 10,000 average miles
A descently performing touring tire. Wear as expected and especially on an suv not very good, I know I cant ask for much in terms of performance but the wheels are 18s and the Cayenne has an air suspension yet the comfort not the best I have experienced. Overall its a descent tire with not many hi-points or low ones for that matter..

Given 56% while driving a Mitsubishi Outlander (225/55 R18 V) on a combination of roads for 82,000 easy going miles
My front tires have just done over 8.200 miles and I am already looking at having replace them due to premature wear

Given 66% while driving a Land Rover Range Rover V8 Autobiography (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 0 average miles
Very good on the road - but I was stuck on wet grass in a field so I wouldn't recommend them.

Given 66% while driving a Mitsubishi Outlander (225/55 R18 V) on a combination of roads for 18,000 spirited miles
Fitted as standard on Mitsubishi Outlander Gx3. Good grip in summer on dry roads, average to good in wet (no problems, just seem to slip a little when pushed hard, but always progressive)

Main problem is wear. I am not a heavy footed driver, but do drive "spirited" at times. I found the wear on these tires absolutely shocking. By 9k I had noticed quite a lot of wear, by 18k they were completely shot.

2nd issue is the cost - they are definitely at the "top end" when it comes to replacement cost, and there are much cheaper options available that are supposed to wear better. I was recommended a Nankang or Hankook

Land Rover Freelander 2 (235/55 R19 V) on a combination of roads for 34,000 average miles
Just re-fitting them again on my Land Rover Freelander after 34,000 miles on the first set. An excellent tire.

Given 79% while driving a Land Rover Range Rover P38 (255/55 R18) on a combination of roads for 5,000 easy going miles
Put a pair of these on the front of a Range Rover, lovely tire but they
wore out in just 5k (gentle) miles. My Range Rover is driven very calmly
and I couldn't believe that these tires were worn out in just 5k. Shame,
as definitely would have bought again if wear was accetable.

Given 100% while driving a Mercedes Benz ML350 (275/55 R17) on a combination of roads for 16 easy going miles
I put these on my ML350 over a year ago and have done 16K and these tires have hardly worn, are very quiet and inspire confidence! The best tires I've ever had by far!!!

Given 64% while driving a Mitsubishi (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 11,000 average miles
Good tire but terrible wear, lasted only about 10-12k miles on front tires. Would not buy again because of this.

Given 93% while driving a Land Rover Range Rover Vogue Westminster (255/50 R20 W) on mostly country roads for 31 average miles
These tires were original equipment on my Range Rover Westminster. They have done 31,000 miles, mostly on country roads at no more than 70 mph, so far and I am advised that there is sufficient tread for another 2 or 3,000 miles on the rear tires, more on the front. Contrary to the comments above, I found that mileage disappointing as I got more than 50,000 miles on Goodyear Wranglers on my last Range Rover. For slick-looking tires, the Continentals coped surprisingly well in muck when I went across fields and plough during the shooting season; and also the snow and ice in the English 2010/11 winter
