After owning the (2012) Audi for about 8 months, I had been a little disappointed with the level of road noise on poor surfaces (particularly rough /worn asphalt at high speed on the motorway) being transmitted through to the cabin.

Needing to replace the original Pirelli P Zero front tires due to wear at 19k miles, I chose the Goodyears specifically due to the low noise rating, although I was unsure whether low external noise would translate to reduced internal noise. They turned out to be a revelation - far quieter.

Recent 200 mile motorway journey London-B'ham, set at usual cruise setting, returned identical fuel figures to the Pirelli's, but noise reduced significantly making the journey far more relaxing. On porous asphalt the car is now silent (just a whisper of wind), on the worst bits of worn asphalt just a gentle rumble instead of a roar.

Since owning the car the fronts have had 4mm or less tread, so I don't know if the noise reduction is just new vs worn tire, or really a function of the Goodyears, but I'm (almost) looking forward to replacing the rears when they wear further, although I suspect the impact will be reduced as I believe most of the noise transmission comes through the steering gear.

As noted above fuel consumption seems the same as the Pirelli's, and my driving style makes no demands on "performance" so cannot comment on these areas. Quattro drive always feels secure anyhow.

Too soon to tell how the tires will wear, but 19k on the Pirelli's was poor I feel.

If you value your life, stay away.

These tires are not only bad in wet weather but even in dry. In addition, they wear down in about 20,000 miles of highway driving.

Got these for £150 each which for a premium tire is very good. Much better than the Pirellis I had before. The only problem is that they are quite loud and make a thud on potholes. However for the price the wear is good the feedback is great, if only they were a bit quieter, but if that doesn't bother you then get these. Will update when they need replacing but all signs are good so far.

excellent tire in both dry and wet conditions. Gives real confidence in rain but be careful in snow as it does not deal with these conditions so well. Noisy in the beginning first 4k but then hardly noticed. Gives good road feedback

I put these onto my 350SLK, after driving it for 10 months on the tires it came with when I bought it second hand. Wow what a difference they made. They are really grippy, the back wheels no longer wheel spin if you pull off quickly, I no longer have to ease the accelerator in when wanting to overtake (it would spin and skid with the old tires) and they grip around corners, are quieter and feel really positive when you're driving. Can't comment on wear yet as I've only done a few hundred miles on them, but would certainly buy again

These are great tires. The added grip has made the car much more fun and the road feedback you receive means you can push it into a corner knowing what grip you have left. Standing starts on these don't lose time and grip spinning the wheels, they just hook up.

One of the best tires that you can put on in a hot hatch. In the wet they are just perfect. It's like driving on dry surface, even when its pouring with rain.

Purchsed the tires last spring and now have to replace them after only 15000 km. due to wear. I would not recommend the tires.

Excellent tires! And long-lasting! Loads of grip wet or dry - though most of my experience is from dry. Had these on my previous car (FWD) also, and in comparison to Continental SPs, more grip in the dry acceleration.

What are the complaints about abnormal wear?? Half worn after 20k miles (32 000 km), had about 3-5mm left. As listed, I did mostly motorways. Perhaps the 4WD system (despite all the power; which I surely used btw!!) resulted in not even close to getting wheelspins and thus limiting the wear.

I have a 2009 bmw 330d touring se (245 bhp) remapped to about 290 - 300 bhp and 430+ ft lb's
I had replaced my 4 Bridgestone run flats for normal Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric in 20 June 2012. After less than 5 months and less than 6000 miles the rear tires are on and below legal limit (1.6ml) and need to be replaced ASAP. While I would say I have a reasonably heavy right foot, my driving style is not damaging to tires and I spend more than 50% on motorway standard roads. Also the noise off them is terrible. I actually brought It to my mechanic thinking it was a bearing or something wrong with the car.
As a driving enthusiast, he was aware of these tires being noises when low on thread and said that higher performance (soft sticky) tires + high torque car = poor wear
As a sales manager on the road a reasonable amount of time I appreciate a higher grip tire but I really expect a tire to last at least 50% longer. By the way the front tires have almost 5 ml left

This has to be the best tire Ive ever driven on. Ive used a mix of premium and midrange brands. Best brand for me used to be yokohama but that was on a front wheel drive car, but these goodyears I used on a rear wheel drive so I think they top the yokos because of that. Have never had any scary moments with these goodys and always felt confident in the wet and around corners. Infact everytime I came to a corner I used to put my foot down just to test their limits. Never found the limit because they never let go. Unfortunately a bump in the side wall meant a MOT failure so never got to take these down to the tread limit. Had to take them off around half of their life. But while I had them, they were great. I hear the newer eagle f1 asymmetric 2 are even better. I think ill give them a go next time.

Had all four tires changed a year ago and picked Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics based on the reviews on this website. I've done 16,000 mostly motorway miles and am devastated that the front tires are now due for replacement, particularly given they cost me £225 a corner. For me, the tires score well in every area except wear and for that reason, I shall not be buying them again. My last car (Astra SRI) had Dunlop Sport SP01's did a little more town driving and lasted 36,000 on the front (although petrol not diesel).
