They ain't Michelins but at less than half the price these are pretty impressive. Quiet and comfortable if a little bit squidgy in the sidewalls leading to a slightly wooly feel, but they deliver good levels of predictable grip in all conditions I've tested them in. Recent snow in the north of Scotland gave me a chance to test this! For the money these are a pretty good punt and I'd buy them again. The budget manufacturers seem to be catching up with the big brands again (although there are some horrendous ones still about)
At a little over 6000 miles now they are showing little signs of wear too which is always a worry with the cheaper end of the market.

I've now ran 3 sets of Avon ZV7's, primarily due to good price and performance, especially with dealer discounting, but also as they were originally made in Britain (though are only "engineered" in the UK now). The tires have always performed very well and only a noticeable drop off towards end of life. Tires have always felt comfortable and are quiet given the wide 19in rims. Wet grip was always confidence inspiring with no surprises. Gripped well for a front wheel drive car, dry or wet, towing a large caravan. More spirited solo driving could give a slightly floaty feel but not enough to concern. Surprising performance in snowy conditions, which maybe suggests softer rubber which might be a reason for an excessive wear rate?
Unfortunately I'm now moving away from there tires primarily due to both wear rate and uneven wear. 12-14k sees the front tires drop below the legal range, but with heavy wear to the central belt, almost as if the tires were heavily overinflated (which they are not). The wear results in poor handling for the last couple of thousand miles with the steering tugging side to side. If Avon could improve on both the wear rate and wear pattern I might be tempted back, but changing tires every 11 month isn't for me anymore when other equally performing tires last considerably longer.
Now to see how a set of Goodyear 4Seasons Gen3 compare in a switch to all season tires

I fitted Cooper Zeon's CS8 two years ago doing about 25K kilometers (17K miles) per year. They were replacing a set of Continentals and were selected due to their cheaper price tag. Although cheaper they were great tires. The side walls appear to be a bit softer than the Conti's or other tires I had before, but overall I was really happy from their grip, handling, dry or wet. Fresh rubber appears quieter compared to their end life and surely returned an very good tread life. I replaced them with a set of Goodyear Asymmetric 6. If anyone is interested in Cooper Zeon CS8 please go ahead and buy them. Just a word of advice for drivers leaving in warm-hot climates. Always look after tire pressures. These tires warm up - overheat in long trips and if you overinflate them you could easily eat away the middle part of the tires.

So far, so good,... Very good. Mainly highway with some spirited drive. Only 4000 km so far in 4 different countries. Very happy with the tires. Handling and comfort are excellent (well, it's a Jag), but the noise is dependent on the asphalt and psi in the tires.

This was my tire of choice after seeing some reviews on snow. I must say it delivered in snow as promised on a hill and slopes it really was good to drive with predictable control. I had to stop on slope and I managed to resume with not too much slip on a RWD off course DSC was OFF and gentle throttle control once it moves you can have some fun on snow. In a dry comfortable tire for long journeys a bit noisy over 160 km/h, also very stable at 210 km/h in dry. In wet it’s stable and very good under breaking. On twisty roads I was surprised how good it was for a winter tire, ton of grip and very stable on long fast medium corners and fast twisty roads.

I have used Vector 4 Season Gen 1 and now Gen 2 on my partners FWD Toyota Yaris. Also Michelin Cross Climates on a FWD Volvo and RWD MX5 and Cross Climate + on a RWD Lexus over the last 7 years. In the South of the UK and when i lived in Cumbria.
In past 9 months I bought a Lexus RC300H which was fitted with Bridgestones and was hugely annoyed to find that there was no all season tire available for the rear tire size (which are different to the front tire size). In winter specification you could only get rear tires of one compound / year and front tires of another compound / year with the same manufacturer so I was in a huge dilemma because although I live in the South in Oxfordshire I very frequently experience severe cold, icy and sometimes snowy roads due to the countryside location and also the height above sea level that I have to travel through every day to and from work. In fact where I live is often recorded as the coldest place in England .
So following lots of calculations / checks I decided on going from 265 to 255 on the rears and that enabled me to have a choice of all season tire that would be the same compound etc on all 4 wheels.
From personal experience of driving tens of thousands of miles on both brands I always felt that the Goodyear tires were better on snow and frosty inclines during severe weather compared to the Michelins. Although the Goodyears were on FWD cars with narrower tires which helps they 'felt' far better and even more noticable in the cold wet weather. I think this is because Michelin are a summer tire with winter capability whereas Goodyear are a winter tire with summer capability.
On this car my plan is to swap back to my Bridgestones for Spring and Summer so I did not need an all season tire that would work well during summer months so therefore opted for the Goodyear to get the best option for winter and i am so pleased that i did!
The Lexus RC300H whilst it has its 12V battery and more importantly Lithium battery packs at the rear below the boot it is known for being very tail happy in any cold / cold damp conditions. Well it has been completely the opposite with the Goodyears, I have now driven 2,000 miles on them since October through torrential downpours, muddy areas and extreme cold (this week been between -8 to +4 for 5 days so far) with lots of ice. I have been driving out on country roads from 06:30 @-4c to -8c and after 20:00 when it has been -2c to -5c each day and also at these times going up and down a private road that has a 1:6 slope with a hair pin bend and no gritting on it and it has been absolutely perfect. Not a single trigger of the LSD or other safety features has occurred, even more impressive is that I have witnessed two FWD cars one a Fiesta the other a Golf that I know have summer tires on them that have not been able to get up the slope at all during these temps.
In the crazy torrential rain that we have had they cut through the water so easily, you get a bit of noise from the water spraying out but it doesn't matter because you can feel it is sure footed and secure with no drift or aquaplaning ever experienced. I thought they would be good in the wet as the ones on my partner Yaris are superb.
Regarding noise in general use they are as quiet as the summer Bridgestones and so far they do not use anymore fuel in standard temperature either as I track / keep a spreadsheet of all fuel usage

I have not been able to try them in anything other than very very light snow but am very confident they will be far superior to a summer tire.
They seem to be wearing evenly but I would expect this of a car not 5 years old and only 22,000 miles on the clock, although it is a very heavy coupe at 1,900kg.
I am so impressed with them that I am reconsidering if I will change back to the Bridgestones come Spring time. The only issue is those tires have only done 2,000 miles on them so I would rather swap to wear them out but once finished I think I will keep the Goodyears on all year around.

Fitted these 32,000 miles ago based on reviews on this site and others; I haven't been disappointed. I haven't tested handling or wet and dry braking on the limit, but at reasonable speeds, they have always been reassuring and never given cause for worry on ice or snow, They were pretty quiet at first, but as they have worn, they have become a little noisier on some surfaces. However, they are still very quiet on good motorway tarmac. I didn't think they would last for 32,000 miles, but they still have between 3.5 and 4.5mm tread after being rotated once which is impressive. I am selling the car, so no idea how much longer they will last, but until spring wouldn't be unreasonable. A bit more expensive, but worth it in my opinion.
Dangerous! OK for wear and handling, had a pair of DX640 (255/40/R19) on the front of a Jaguar XJ V8 - first one started losing pressure as if it had a slow puncture - when I took it off to try and find the leak it was much worse - the entire sidewall had split away from the shoulder! The other side was fine and not losing pressure, but a few months on while working on the brakes I noticed the other tire is goosed too - massive split between the shoulder and the tread revealing lots of sheared steel wires and cords from the belts! 15k miles and barely 3 years on the car, less on the first one, both with a good 4mm of tread left. Never again!

If you drive a car of which NVH won’t be much affected by the tires these Contis are are very precise and definitely give a sporty feel. But if you are concearned about NVH then be warned that these tires produce excesssive amounts of noise and are quite harsh rising. Not a tire to buy for comfort. Changed them for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmteric 6’s and the difference is night and day.

I’ve these on my 3.0 Audi A6 Quattro. They aren’t an uncomfortable tire, so to speak, but they leave a lot to be desired if you’re even a modestly spirited driver. The traction control on my Audi is very aggressive, so much so that if I’m having a play, I disable it. I’ve lost traction several times in low speed but high sidewall force scenarios. These trees just don’t hold up to any lateral force at all. Unless you’re dithering about, they will throw your car all over the road in a wallow. I can’t speak to how long they last, nor how they are in the wet. I’ve done a thousand miles on mine and I’m ready to swap them out for just about anything.
The biggest issue is the way they respond under braking. They just don’t. They slip and slide all over the place under intense braking.
Are they okay for doing the weekly shop? Yes. Are they okay for dithering about, doing the school run, and doing 60mph in the outside lane? Probably. Are they any good if you like to use more than 30 percent of your available throttle sometimes? No.
I didn’t choose to fit them. They were fitted merely to get through an MoT by the previous owner.
