Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 Reviews - Page 3

I could only confirm the experience with these tires made by some of the other reviewers. Namely, they only lasted for perhaps about 8000 km, basically two seasons. The first winter was quite OK, but for the 2nd winter it suddenly became just a totally different story. First off, I realized the tires lost grip in the snow and ice quite substantially, albeit the were still relatively good/acceptable in the wet. Secondly, the Blizzaks developed a lot of "bald" spots on the tread, however I can't really recall it right now, whether it happened during the 1st winter season or right in the beginning of the 2nd. Basically, the tread seemed really worn out - as reported by some other reviewers here. Than, after that, I also noticed the compound just became hard as plastic and the outer layer of the (already) worn our tread started to come off in several places. Actually my summer tires, Bridgestone Turanza, were much softer to the touch :)!

We live in the middle of Germany, on the northern side of Rennsteig, and we have our decent share of bad weather in winter every year with snow and ice, sometimes even with quite severe snowfalls. Therefore, the snow and ice grip is quite an important asset the tire should be providing, but it was complete failure from the Blizzaks, in particular for the second season/winter. Those are definitely not for the true snowy conditions, much cheaper Fulda winters did a better job in the snow.

As I understood, this seems to be quite common with this tire model, for example, there is a rather big discussion about the exact same issues on the German discussion board motor-talk and also on the German amazon with quite a few pictures/photos of these tires having the same problems as I was. Mine were in the same production window, having the same production code and also made in Poland as those reported in amazon and motor-talk. Albeit some others reported the same problems with their tires made in Turkey as well. So I don't know, probably it really is/was a bad batch or production failure. Anyway, I wont be buying these tires anymore, for sure, neither can I get all this hype around them, it's just totally behind me. Seems like a gamble - they may work out nicely (made in France/Italy?) or just become garbage in less than 10K km (made in Poland or Turkey?), which should be nothing for a good tire and non-sporty/normal driving style. I've changed them already to the allseasons Yokohama BluEarth-4s AW21, let's see how good these are, so far OK, in the dry and wet, will probably report on them later after the winter season.

Very good tires for handling and on dry roads.Good on wet and snow, not great on ice.
After 4 years and 38000 km I had to dismiss them out due to abnormal wear and noise.
Probably I will re-buy them for handling, but I may evaluate Hankook, Michelin or Continental.

For a premium tire, these are the absolute worst purchace I ever made. They lasted around 5,000km before they hit the 4mm legal snow mark and had to be thrown away. The grip and handling was at best average. Why all the hype is beyond me.

This tires are the worst winter tires I have ever used. I have used them for 3 seasons, and I can say they especially perform very bad on subzero tempratures. They slip a lot and I observe lots of wear. Almost no grip on snow & ice. When the weather is above 7 degrees, they somehow manage to perform ok. Previously I have owned Michelin Alpin A4, Alpin 5, Continental Wintercontact TS850 & 870, they all perform way too better. Probaby the ones I own have a manufacturing fault. They are manufactured in 2020/28th week, made in Turkey.

Unbelievable performance in the wet. Really in the league of it's own. Almost comparable to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 in wet. A bit hard and noisy in this dimension. But a fair trade off for the performance it gives. Average consumption rose about 0.3l per 100km compared to summer tires. Overall, really really impressive tire! Strongly recommend for cold and wet.

I bought these tires since they are winning test across Europe. I'm mainly comparing to Nokian winter tires, which I've had on one Ford Fiesta, and two Hyundai Getz's. The Blizzak is fine in dry and wet conditions, but fails in snow, icy or general cold conditions. It can hardly stop or steer in a thin layer of snow, without ice underneath. However, if you are going side ways, it is excellent in slowing down the car, and helping you to crash head on, by straighten up your car. The front tires are already down to 4-5 milimeters, and some of the lamellas are not cut all the way to this depth. I drive apprx. 20k km/year, and switches between summer and winter tires, and I don't think the Blizzak will have a third season on the front tires. A bit disappointing considering it is a some what expensive tire. Maybe I'll try another "premium" tire, or revert to Nokian.

End season 2, start season 3 late October. OK on dry or wet road with no ice/snow. On hard snow at -18 degC (and warmer, but cold dry snow) the tires slip dangerously quick by the least push on the brake pedal. To me it seems that the tires have a fault, unsafe on winding, snow roads. Will replace with Nokian Hakapellita before Christmas holidays

While the wet performance is outstanding, I felt it was average on snow and dry. The tire gave me excellent feedback at the limit and lost grip progressively. The wear concerned me as it lost 2-3mm of the profile in just ~5000 km. I think is a good tire but in the future, I will try something else.

Dry : average handling. Wet : very good and safe. Snow : i had michelins pilot Alpin 5 before and with my car they handle way better the snow. Wear : OK when driving in a "normal" way, i tried to have a bit of fun in an empty parking lot and i destroyed the fronts prety quickly. Comfort : noisier than the michelins PA5 and they vibrate a bit and increase noise betwen 80 - 100 Kph. For my next car (toyota GR86) i ordered conti's ts870p.

Fitted to a 2l and 3l Q5 for UK routine drives and ski season trips to the Alps. Outstanding on a larger SUV, outstanding. Infinitely better than the Conti TS870. It seems far more capable of controlling the bulk of an SUV, felt extremely safe for fast, spirited driving in any condition. UK roads are wet, greasy, slippery and the ambient temperature is cold during the winter months. The UK road surfaces have far less grip than roads on the continent. I feel this is why the Bridgestone rubber compound thrives over the Continental compound and I hope Johnathan can reflect this in his reviews in the future. On a French autoroute or smooth German A roads, the TS870 will make an SUV feel like a saloon whereas the Blizzak will always feel like a dedicated winter tire, but for UK roads (and in the snow in the Alps) then the Blizzak is outstanding for SUVs.

Excellent tires. Super comfortable. Very direct. Pleasure to drive. Excellent grip. Wouldn't mind driving on them in England for the whole year. Wonderful in wet. Precise in dry. Had Grabber GT Plus before, compering to them, Bridgstone were a few times better, maybe not in wear, but in the rest, for sure. Morning ice on English road, no problem.

I had very little snow and ice conditions here in Zagreb/Croatia and that was the reason why I bought Bridgestone lm005 and except of tire wear everything else was just as you reviewed it couple od years ago.
