Hankook Ventus V12 evo k110 Reviews - Page 7

Given 96% while driving a Toyota Celica VVTLi (205/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
Had these recommended by my local dealer but had concerns as relatively unknown and I was off to the Nurburgring. These exceeded my best expectations amazing grip and feel in the dry. Did manage to get them to slide once when changing direction mid corner at 70 mph but totally predictable. A little opposite lock and back to full grip again, then blast away for more fun. Unable to comment on wet use or wear yet but will when appropriate.
Don't be put off by the fact that these are not a premium brand. A graet tire so far.

I have used many different brands of tires over the years and discovered I was paying high prices for branded and well advertised makes of tire. They were false economy when compared to my Hankooks. These are a fantastic tire. Great grip in wet or dry, excellent under acceleration and braking and they look good too! My car is very nippy and I like to drive hard so I need to know I've got some good rubber between me and the road. I've been buying this tire for several years now and unless something better becomes available, I will keep buying them. I can pick up 4, fitted and balanced, for just over £200.00

Expensive but well worth the extra cash. I do seem to go through a front pair every 15k but thats more likely to be my driving style.

Given 81% while driving a Honda CRV (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Tire Size: 245 45 ZR 19

Changed from original spec. Yokohama Advan Sports to these after considerable research. Tires are the most important part of any car - you place your life in their hands and on that small contact point between rubber and tarmac, so get it right.

First impressions: After scrub in, excellent. I have driven in Pirelli's (yuk!) and Goodyear Eagle F1 GDS 2' on my Audi S3 and would categorically state that these tires are as good as, if not better than the GDS 2's. Sure footed, excellent traction, good turn in, minimal side wall movement and excellent water displacement and general wet weather performance make this tire a very strong contender and I would certainly recommend that you look at these.

By the way, if you are looking for summer tires that grip and last for tend of thou's of miles, forget it - performance and long-life is like trying to mix oil and water - the recipe just does not work!

Given 74% while driving a Audi A4 2.0 TFSI (205 bhp) (235/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
These tires seem to be a good match for my car given the bigger cost and similar performance of the standard ContiSports that came as standard fit with the car.
I had 3 sets of the Ventus S1’s:
1st of two on the front replacing worn Conti’s
2nd set of two on the front, moving the half worn fronts , after doing about 9k on these, to the back
3rd set of 4 after both the front and rears are on about 2mm, done 40k on the rears! and about 20k on the fronts
This is my experience:

Positives:
Excellent grip in the dry
Low rolling resistance
Good feedback
Managed to drive in the Jan snow with about 3-4 mm on thread left!
Good acceleration and braking

Negatives:
When getting down to 2-3mm I started experiencing some tram lining
Slightly skittish in the wet when down to 2-3mm but still safe
Noise level increase when worn down from 3mm onwards

Given I have s-line suspension and the tire is side-wall reinforced I can’t comment on comfort. In general a very good tire for the price, given the extra price on premium brands and similar or worse wear and performance than the Hankook’s, then these are a sensible buy.

Prices are rising as these are becoming standard fit on a lot of new cars. Will by these again but are starting to look at Vredensteins if prices are continuing to go upwards.

Given 86% while driving a Honda Accord (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Reading the reviews of this tire it is most obvious that it performs better on some cars than others. I have been a Michelin man(not that I'm fat)for many years, for the wet grip and resistance to wear these Premium tires have. I bought 4 HanKook Ventus V12's as I promised after 8 years I would very soon be selling my beloved car. This hasn't happened, but after a couple of hundred miles, I have to say(on my car) these tires are brilliant. Dry and wet grip is superb, no tire spinning, fantastic self assured cornering. I would definitely buy these tires again, I got much more than I was expecting.

Given 69% while driving a Ford Fiesta (190/45 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 9,000 easy going miles
These tires came with my new Fiesta. Excellent during the summer months - great grip and feedback. Very low rolling resistance and pretty comfortable, low rolling noise. However, any rain or damp conditions and they were skittish at best. Made the car twitchy and installed no confidence to whoever was driving the car. Changed the fronts the following year as I was that nervous about these in the wet. Never ever had any Hankooks that could cope with the wet.

Given 79% while driving a MG ZR (205/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
Fitted these earlier in the year. Much quieter than the previous Conti SP 2's. These are great in the dry and wet, came into their own during the recent snowy conditions. I couldn't take the car out in the snow with the Continentals fitted. These felt very stable in the ice, snow and slush.

Given 57% while driving a Volkswagen polo gti 1.8t (205/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 8,000 average miles
These tires are good in the dry and not too noisy.

However in the wet they are pretty poor. They are nowhere near fully worn yet. With them being poor in wet since I got the car I am considering replacing them way before they are due to be replaced.

Would I buy this tire again, definitely not. I used to run Vredestein on my old car and will probably go back to them in the future.

Given 83% while driving a Ford Focus MK1 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
Had two fitted to my mk1 focus. Amasing grip in the wet, performed way better than the old Eagle F1s fitted. As said take a few minutes to warm up and they settle down but they're an amazing tire. And with CamSkill selling these at ?60 they're a bragain! Deffinately buy again and recommend to anyone!

Given 61% while driving a Honda CIVIC 1.6 VTEC (215/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 7,000 spirited miles
Dry grip is great in the Heat of summer. these tires are best when HOT. anything else they just lack the grip needed, wet and cold conditions are a massive weakness for this tire. id buy something else, looking at higher priced brands. you get what you pay for with this tire. wear on the tires is pretty bad im at about half my tires tread in 7k miles motorway and A roads.
