Yokohama Advan Neova AD08
Replaced by the ADVAN Neova AD08R
The Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 is an extreme performance summer tire with strongly praised dry grip, steering feedback and progressive breakaway. Standing water and heat-related issues during some circuit use are its main reported limitations.
The Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 is a mid-range extreme performance summer tire with strong support for dry grip, handling and feedback. Twenty favorable dry-grip comments without criticism lead its owner record, with steering feel and progressive breakaway also generally liked. EVO's 2014 test reinforces the dry-performance praise, placing it fourth of ten and describing a track-day tire that could work on the road. That gives it a clearer case for drivers prioritising dry-road response and occasional circuit use than for an unqualified all-weather role.
Wet grip receives more owner praise than criticism, and EVO considered it acceptable, but standing water is a distinct concern in four accounts. Three reviews also describe heat-related problems on track, so the strong initial grip should not be taken as proof of sustained performance in long sessions. Comfort has more supporters than detractors, but the test record adds little detail beyond the 2014 verdict and sixth of nine in EVO's 2010 comparison. Most reviews lack a life stage, and one owner's two largely similar posts do not establish an ageing trend. Long-term behavior is therefore less certain than its dry-grip reputation.

2014 EVO Max Performance Summer Tire Test P4 of 10
Yokohma took a gamble when it nominated the AD08 instead of the V105, but it paid off. Sensational in the dry, surprisingly "ok" in the wet, and performing well on the road too, the AD08 is a trackday tire you can drive every day

Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 Owner Reviews
Review this tireWhat owners say summarised from 25 reviews
Dry grip is the clear point of agreement on the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08, with 20 favorable mentions and no criticism. Dry handling, steering feedback and progressive breakaway are also generally liked, while wet grip draws nine positive comments against two negative ones. Standing water is a separate concern, raised in four accounts, roughly one in six reviews, despite that broader wet-grip praise. Three accounts describe heat-related issues during circuit use, so sustained track running is less settled than initial dry grip. The two posts by one owner remain strongly positive and largely repeat the same experience, rather than showing a clear ageing trend. Most reviews lack a life stage; the average is 84.1% across 25 reviews, with 23 positive.

“I kind of bought these by mistake, I reviewed lots and got confused with the 048 and 08, as I use this car always on track. They overheat after a short time and the rubber starts moving across the tire and eventually...”
“Dry grip is probably second to none (certainly that I have tried) for a tire with enough tred to drive on the road in the rain. That said - they do not hold a candle to slicks on track and having recently driven to...”

I went from the T1R to the AD08 and while in the tire fitter's it was obvious seeing the two side by side (the T1R's had only completed 1K miles), the construction of the Yokohama was far superior. The carcass was very solid - sidewall and main tread part. A friend who was with me joked they hardly need inflating.
First drive out (120 miler round Shropshire's finest B-roads) was a revelation. Basically they seemed to totally sort my Type R Impreza. Turn-in is laser sharp with good feedback. General road feedback was good too, allowing a more fluid, connected drive. Grip levels (dry) are brilliant, all the way up to the limit. When the limit is reached there is a wide amount of safe, easily explorable progression. There's no sudden letting go.
The shoulder's of most tires would be showing signs of wear after about 1K miles (car only used for blats out), but the Yoko's have not worn in this manner, and after 5K miles the shoulders are still completely intact
In short I am very impressed with the tire, they do everything you could want from a tire and do it well. They seem to suit the Impreza very well indeed. Highly recommended, and will buy again
