Ford Mondeo Titanium 2.0 TCDI Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 given 83% (215-60-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
Excellent tire. As a summer tire I normally use them from end of March to mid-November since here in Central Europe we usually have Novembers with no freezing temperatures so a summer tire can perform relatively acceptable down to 7-10 degC. These tires gives confidence and peace of mind, good grip, very good comfort, low noise, short braking distances, very good handling. This November is colder than usual and under 4-5 degC the tire begins to show weaknesses as the compound is getting harder in cold. Noise increases and looses a certain amount of grip that warns you it's time to change. Still, runs safe just you get the feeling of these are not the circumstances the have been designed for.
The only weak point is the wear. Two seasons (20.000+ kms) and more than half of the tread went away. So I expect 30-35 k kms as lifespan. My former Goodyear lasted longer.

Driving on a combination of roads for 13500 average miles
These were my first all season tires, I have owned this car for almost 5 years & before these tires i had goodyear asymmetric 5s fitted, which is what i will compare the vectors to.

If you are just a regular driver just doing some normal driving, you cannot tell these are a winter biased all season tire, I will say however going from the asymmetric to the vector, the dry braking is easily the biggest fault, if you need to do some heavier braking in the dry, the tires almost feel like they are gliding over the road surface and you really have to press the pedal, The dry handling is similiar if the tires are cold, they glide over the road instead of griping it. If you have been driving on the tires for a while, example, an hour on the motorway & then have to do some quick B-roads, the tires offer so much more grip. If you like to drive quick often, these tires are probably not the best choice.

In the wet, they are ok on the motorway but do wash out if you take a corner a bit to lively, wet braking is fine though.

We didn't get much snow this year in my area but i know for sure that i wouldn't have made it home on the asymmetrics with the little snow we did get and i can actually reverse up my driveway when there is snow on it. I don't know how they would handle really heavy snow but i'd imagine you'd still make it home.

The biggest thing with these tires though, which is why i'd buy them again is wear, after 1 year & 13500 miles, all four tires still have over 6mm of tread(i rotated them front to back after 9000 miles) normally i'd be shopping for new tires after this mileage but to still have so much useable life left at this point is remarkable.

A good choice, just wish they were a tiny bit better in the dry.

One of the worst tires I have ever driven. After 7-8 thousands km start steering wheel vibrations, changed my front tires with Fulda much better. Then my both rear wheels got baloons o the side profile of the tire, of course trow them in the bin. I suggest you not to buy Pirelli Sottozero 3!

Driving on a combination of roads for 12000 average miles
Before i left a review for these tires i wanted to have used them for a while. They were fitted in october 2021 and i have covered 12000miles on them. At first, these tires were pretty loud and i thought i'd made a mistake but after around 500 miles they were practically silent compared to the landsail tires my car had fitted when i bought it. During the summer, these tires have been superb, Wet or Dry, the car grips like nothing else and while its not a sporty car i can stick it into corners with confidence. Braking in wet & dry is brilliant. Wear, they are down to 5.5mm all round, i did rotate them front to rear in june or july just to balance out the wear. These are great tires HOWEVER, they do come with a warning for UK drivers who generally use the same tire all year round, these are high performance summer rubber and as such, turn rock solid below 3c, offer zero grip in the snow, understeer in the cold & wet if pushed too hard. Less then 1cm of snow will defeat them on a tiny incline. My car is a 2016 ford mondeo estate 2.0 diesel, remapped at 224bhp and 470nm, very little to no wheelspin if i have to accelerate quickly wet or dry. Would i buy again, 100%

great tire out performs the competition at a cheaper price have used all the goodyear assymetrics over the past 12 years and they keep improving on all models.

Initially I was impressed, that didn’t last long. Wear is average at best and dry grip will never compete with a premium brand but it’s satisfactory. Wet grip however is a different story. If you drive with your kids in the car you don’t want these tires, wet stopping distance is horrendous. And the final straw was when my car developed a lot of wheel wobble the investigation found one of my tires after less than 2000 miles (3000km) was out of shape meaning the wheel could not be balanced and vibration unavoidable. Fuel economy was aldosterone down around 10%. I’m now back on Michelin all round and the car is transformed.

Driving on a combination of roads for 12000 spirited miles
Having had two sets of the previous generation Dunlop SP Sportmaxx RT on my Mondeo before, I had no hesitation going for the next generation RT2 when they came for replacement. As with the previous generation I was impressed with this tire but the biggest upgrade from the previous generation I found the wear rate to be much better. I tend to carry speed through bends where I can and these were certainly communicative and grippy both dry and wet. High speed motorway running in heavy standing water wasn't a problem for these and I was able to carry on when other cars were slowing down or spinning off. Snow grip isn't anything to write home about but then this is a performance summer tire not a winter one. The tires weren't unduly noisy or harsher than any other tires I'd had on the car. They were pretty low profile and with the -20mm lower sports suspension pack on the car they weren't overly thrashy around potholes. Fuel consumption was pretty good too.

Driving on a combination of roads for 5500 average miles
When i bought my car in march 2020 the place i bought the car from fitted 4 LS588 tires as part of the sale. I have been fairly surprized by these as they are far better than i was expecting, comfortable, low noise and handle pretty good, you really have to push them for them to let go and even then, they are predictable. Downside to these tires, 5500 miles on the front and they are down to 4mm, rears are at 7mm. I swapped them round front to back to try and extend the life. I don't think i'd buy them again purely because they wear to quickly, if they lasted abit longer then i would buy again without a problem. Car is a 2016 ford mondeo estate diesel

Driving on for 8000 miles
I usually fit summer and winter tires but decided to opt for all seasons due to living in a remote rural area. The car I drive offers very few all season options so I chose these which cost £61 each opposed to £160 plus per corner. In the warmer weather they are ok and on par with any other slightly higher end budget tire. They do lose a little grip in the wet when accelerating, but generally ok. They have mud and snow markings and have waited to try them during bad weather. Today in about 5cm snow they performed admirably. I was quite surprised as I could almost drive as if there was no snow. This was definitely the tires strong point. Stopping in the snow was the same as my previously fitted Dunlop tires. I would recommend these tires if you are confined to a budget but want that assurance during the winter months.
