175/70 13 Tire Review Highlights

Falken EUROALL SEASON AS200 rated 65% while driving a Fiat 1973 Fiat 124 Sedan
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 spirited miles
I bought these tires about two years ago, and since then, I've been impressed with them. It doesn't snow much where I live, but since my house is up a hill, I thought I wouldn't want to get stranded when it does. I used these tires across a very wide range of temperatures, from -5°C to +40°C.

When the weather is hot, the tires get very soft and lose traction easily. Since my car has only 65 hp, I noticed that when the weather is above 30°C, it's a lot easier to make the tires spin in place.

As for wet conditions, when the rain has just started, the tires have no grip. It's easy to lock all four tires under braking, and wheelspin or even lose the back end of the car. However, once it has rained for a little while, the tires perform better, as long as you avoid puddles. I've hit a puddle while going around 60 mph and thought I was going to die. Fortunately, it didn't upset the car too much since both front tires entered the puddle at the same time. However, if one tire enters earlier, it creates a lot of drag on that tire and tries to spin the car. I don't think water evacuation is very effective.

As for snow, I can't say I didn't like these tires. As long as you're driving according to the conditions, keeping an eye on your speed and the distance between you and the car in front, they perform well. Yes, they wheelspin easily and lose traction, but that's expected in snow.

I haven't had the chance to try them on ice. Regarding wear, I'm really impressed—they look the same as the day I got them. I think this is more about the car, though, since my car only weighs around 800 kg.

One word summarises these tires up. Appalling. These tires came with my car when I first bought it and the day I got rid of them for some Uniroyal RainExpert 3's was probably one of the best days of my life. The Uniroyals transformed the ride quality and handling of my car massively.

Where do I begin? The dry grip was poor and even relatively laid back driving could get them to squeal and lose traction. If you needed to get going at a junction or wanted a good set off, they'd judder and not provide good grip. The wet grip was appalling and even gentle set offs would result in heavy wheel spin and juddering. They provided 0 grip in wet and damp conditions. The handling felt imprecise and sloppy, with the grip levels being poor. I got to 60mph on a straight stretch of road and they felt very unstable! The ride quality was abysmal, making my car feel bumpy on even some of the best roads. They were very noisy as well. The wet and dry braking was poor. My fuel economy was terrible with these tires on and they had some horribly soft sidewalls so it constantly looked like I had flat tires, despite even bumping up the pressure slightly above what the manufacturer states. The only positive thing I can bring away is that they wore down at an alright pace, but I wouldn't even debate putting these on even if they lasted forever.

I doubt this tire is even sold anymore, however if you find some, do avoid them.

Sava PERFECTA rated 41% while driving a Fiat Panda
Driving on mostly town for 10000 average miles
In the beginning they were okay on the dry and average on the wet. A year after that they were horrible on the wet. ABS was working overtime and I was losing traction even driving 10km/h on a roundabout. They haven't weared at all to be honest but that's because they don't have any friction with the road. I changed them after I almost crashed on a curb. Should definitely be banned.

Uniroyal RainExpert 3 rated 100% while driving a Nissan SUNNY
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
Excellent tires. I got these as a birthday gift, believe it or not, last year and they absolutely changed the ride and handling characteristics on my Sunny for the better. I always knew with a good set of tires it will be a good handling, quiet and comfortable car, but I was totally shocked when I fitted these. The wet/damp grip is phenomenal, the best I've had so far. In these conditions, they really do shine. There is no squealing or loss of traction, even with some fairly quick and less forgiving getaways from junctions. Even when you give it a little more around a corner, the cars feels like it's on rails. I feel very safe using these in the rain. I really enjoy driving in damp conditions now, as the tires really show their worth. I think the designers at Uniroyal hit the nail on the head. The dry grip is honestly amazing too, but they seem a little more at home in the damp, which is more often than it is dry in the UK and most of Northern Europe. There are no traction issues in the dry and I can rarely get these to squeal, even when I do dump the clutch a bit to get going. It still handles like it's on rails in the dry and the traction is perfect. The road noise generated from these tires is pretty low and they offer nice comfort too. Before my car had cheap nasty tires with very soft sidewalls. The ride was bumpy and very unsettled sometimes. Now it is smooth and made the car even more comfortable than it already was (reasonably forgiving suspension, comfy seats). They have lasted me a good while now and are still in great shape. Nowhere near the halfway mark yet! For the price, you really can't get anything better. I have family who now use Uniroyal and say the same thing, a little cheaper than the big boys, but keeps them humbled.

Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 spirited miles
Fitted these tires when I bought my car as the tires that were on it were 20 years old. Bought these tires as they were the only one with a H speed rating for this tire size instead of a T rating. I must say that I'm quite happy with them. I have driven them in varying conditions, from warm summer days to heavy downpour and frost (no snow or ice, at max a little patch of ice due to frost, but no whole layers). I have never noticed any sort of grip loss. The tire communicates quite well when you have reached their limits, even tho you reach that limit quite fast in corners, but that's perhaps also due to the tire size, in that they don't have a lot of width. Which is why I bought a new set of rims on which I am going to fit another set of Hankooks, but this time, as this size has more choice, an actual performance tire (ventus v12 evo2). I love driving on the limit and so I'm hoping to get more out of it with wider rims and actual performance tires, which these weren't. Tho I must say it hurts a little because even after 1.5 years and about 10000 kms they still look new. So overall I would recommend this tire for this tiresize, they have been splendid.

Falken Sincera SN832 Ecorun rated 90% while driving a Honda Civic
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
Very good grip in both dry and wet roads. The only tire that I haven't felt any loss of traction when driving on wet roads. It has only lost traction when I did it on purpose to test the limits and it wasn't easy. Very comfortable and soft ride with no noises. It's been a year that I'm driving on these tires and they don't look to have worn out at all although I see some small cracks on the edges of the front tires mainly due to the scorching summer heat. All in all I would definitely buy them again. Never have I found a tire with so good grip on wet roads.

Yokohama BluEarth Es ES32 rated 83% while driving a Opel Corsa
Driving on mostly town for 2 easy going miles
This 1996 Opel Corsa has had many tires and these are the best. They have very good dry grip (very little use in the wet) and are exceptionally quiet and comfortable. The car isn't driven very hard but the control is perfect and they give complete confidence. Much better than some awful - almost dangerous tires the car had in the past. Basically super tires in this unusual size.

Driving on a combination of roads for 13500 spirited miles
For budget Tires, these exceeded expectations. Whiles they were not the most comfortable on uneven pavement, the feedback they provided was acceptable. Dry grip had me all smiles as I was not able to over come their limit while going 100km+ around bends. The level of Wet grip gave a false sensation that the road was dry until you brake hard, but even then, they were still able to grip great under wet and dry braking. For the price and performance I was able to extract while driving 13000+ Miles on these Tires I wouldn't hesitate to buy again

found them on my car almost new, cannot say i was impressed, especially when it was time to change them, not worth the money foun better tire with less money, goodyear is an outdated tire and not so good in the wet, may fit goodyear only if they change the tire with a new one with good ratings in the rain

bought my car second hand it had four goodyear tires, with one year old stamp and looked new, it was ok but not on rainy days, after researching in this page found that falken is top of the list, over one year with falken fitted i am vert happy with them on the road in all conditions, i think they are not so fuel efficient as goodyear but i do not care as i prefer safety first .. yes i will buy again, value for money
