245/35 19 Tire Review Highlights

Continental SportContact 7 rated 92% while driving a Honda 1.6 I DTEC
Driving on mostly country roads for 300 spirited miles
My car came with Cup 2s in 245/30/20 but living in a place where maximum day time temps in winter can be as low as 10 deg C I wanted something that would work a bit better all year round. No track work, daily driving or rain, just mountain twisties in the dry at a fast pace but not pushing it to the limits. Was using PS4S on a set of 19" wheels that were great but the price had jumped to $550AUD each.

As expected the SC7 don't have the same direct or sporty feel as the Cup 2s and most likely the Potenza Sport that I also considered. Subjectively they still feel very fast and balanced for my chassis which is fair stiffly sprung from the factory. While I don't push them extremely hard, they feel like they are fairly progressive and wouldn't bite you as you approached their limits.

When warm they also have a ton of dry grip and unlike the PS4S don't engage the traction control under full acceleration. In my size they also weigh over 1kg less than the PS4S so the unsprung mass is a lot closer to the factory forged wheels and Cup 2s. Compared to both the PS4S and the older SC6 that I drove on a 2018 FK8 Civic Type R the SC7 overall just feels more balanced (grown up?) with decent feedback but without compromising outright grip. As I'm not chasing laps times it means I can focus on driving the car for enjoyment and be less concerned about what the tires are doing. Plus if I want outright steering feel, grip and an edgier ride I can just throw the factory Cup 2s on!

So overall a great match for my car and while I would have gone with something different if I was doing track work, for my use case they are brilliant.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 rated 99% while driving a Audi A4 Avant Quattro 204PS (S + BE)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10 average miles
Been driving for many decades but last 10 years I used to buy Vredestein until their quality dropped, so tried a few other cars with different tires, and saw the Goodyear Assy 5's were very good. The new version Assy 6's came out so decided to use on my previous car and the results were excellent. Now have on my Audi A4 Quattro and they are utterly superb, especially when you need them (emergency stuff and poor weather). I was worried about the wear after reading all the comments which I always research, but I find the wear excellent for application (sporty will wear more than touring etc). I strongly recommend these tires which even impress my comrades with tire-specific sports cars when I let them drive mine. Whatever the new methods of manufacture and materials, it works well on these.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S rated 76% while driving a Mercedes Benz A45 S AMG
Driving on mostly country roads for 2000 spirited miles
These are a great combination of sporty and capable with compliance for comfort. They are great in the dry and very capable once warmed up. They are ok in the wet but push hard and the feedback can be slow. The wear for a performance tire is great in my opinion they last me a decent amount of time.

Nexen N Fera SU1 rated 100% while driving a Audi TT 2.0 Quattro
Driving on a combination of roads for 600 spirited miles
I have these tires on a mk3 Audi TT Quattro. Most people slow down in the wet, I felt so confident I speeded up! In the dry they are excellent and almost silent. 69dB that’s 3dB less than Michelin. I have had these since February 2024 and have nad no bad issues with them. Although i have never heard of Nexen until I bought this car with them on already.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S rated 97% while driving a Hyundai Elantra N
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 spirited miles
Extremely good tire. I have full confidence in them even in pouring rain. Now to be fair, I have 245 width which helps but my Elantra N is fairly light so there isn't all that much weight to keep the tires planted. Yet these tires have never steered (

Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport rated 74% while driving a Audi TT MK3 1.8
Driving on mostly town for 11000 spirited miles
I got these three a couple of years ago on a very attractive offer from Costco.

These tires are extremely competent on a summer’s day. Above 10°c and a dry road I could never reached their limits. In the rain they are also very well put together, albeit I never pushed them in the wet.

Unfortunately, I could never fully enjoy these tires. Due to the horrendous degradation of our roads, soon after purchase I hit an extremely bad pothole (under a railway bridge. Couldn’t see it until it was too late). Although the tire and wheel was refitted, I never felt like I could fully trust them. This is there downside. They are extremely hard (due to being a UUHP) and just can’t cope with our roads. They get thrown about all over the place and don’t make for a pleasant ride. This isn’t the fault of the tires, but really can’t recommend them as an everyday in the UK.

I will add finally that they are useless in the winter. This is no surprise, but under 8°c they are rock hard. So do keep this in mind. Perhaps have a set of winters/All seasons and run these only in the summer.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport rated 87% while driving a BMW 530i M sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 spirited miles
I had these tires before replacing them with michelin ps4s. Honestly, I liked the PSS better. It's barely noticeable but it's there. I felt like the PSS was just more direct, more responsive, I don't know exactly how to describe it. The ps4s is an amazing tire too, dont get me wrong. However, just like all michelin tires I've owned over the years, by the sixth year, the PSS had developed cracks even though the car was parked indoor in a garage. I had the PSS for a little over 9 years, and once I dismounted them, I noticed the inside was almost completely torn. Still better than my ps4, which suffered from the same fate after only 6 years, but it's pretty scary. Michelin claimed their tires can last 10 years, but I never got to the 10th year, especially if the car is driven daily. I still had lots of tread left on my PSS, so I guess in terms of wear it was pretty good. Much, much better than my old PS2, which was almost completely bald after only 4 years. Overall, the PSS is an excellent tire.

Triangle SporteX TH201 rated 54% while driving a Volkswagen Unknown
Driving on mostly motorways for 20000 spirited miles
Dry grip is fine, for 150-160 km/h is fine, but if you're driving faster, it will be complicated.
Wet grip is awful, max safety speed on wet surface is about 100-110 km/h
Breaking on dry is not good
Breaking on wet is terrible
Overall, it's good for this price and driving normally. However, driving faster than 200 km/h is bad.

In my case on 9j ET33 rims on it these tires are smaller than the other brands -_-
Will change them on a newer model TH202 or CS7

Petlas Velox Sport PT741 rated 86% while driving a Audi A4 Avant 2.0 tdi 170hp
Driving on a combination of roads for 22000 spirited miles
I cover a lot of mileage every year… 35k miles easy. I honestly can’t tell you how shocked I was at how good these tires were. When it came to paying for the tires they came in much cheaper than other brands I’ve used so didn’t expect to get as much traction, mileage or general positivity with the Petlas… boy was I wrong!!

100% I’d buy again and will as soon as I get to the change limit

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 rated 90% while driving a Renault Unknown
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
Swapped my 4x Continental Contact Sport 6’s with PS5’s. My car is a Renault Megane RS 280 EDC.

My Conti’s wear worn out to indicators when I swapped these. The initial impressions were not great. Car had more under steer and felt like I was on cheap Chinese tires.

However, after about 1,000kms these tires are amazing in both the dry and the wet. Fantastic grip, considering my car has 206kw at the from wheels with only electric front diff.
I was able to use launch control for the first time!
My car used to light up the front wheels and smoke and not move on launch, now it grips hard off the line with no fuss.
Best part of this tire is it’s predictability, on the old tires if I entered a bend very quickly I could step the back out and do a rear drift, this is the nature of the cars handling which is superb anyway, now with the PS5’s I can do the same manoeuvre and the back will step out a bit but it’s so much more progressive and communicative. This is the PS5’s best quality, it’s a great tire for having plenty of vigorous fun around the twisters and always maintains a level of predictability no matter how hard you push them. Yes, the PS4 S, is a better tire for the track but for the road this tire is right up there.
To top it off, the sidewall is super sexy, best I’ve seen with quality look AND feel.
I’d recommend this for any hot hatch like a Golf R, Focus RS, BMW 140iM or similar.
My car feels like a 4WD and it’s a front wheel drive, couldn’t imagine what they would do for a 4WD hot hatch!! Highly recommend!!!!!!
