Toyota Prius Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Goodyear Assurance MaxLife given 51% (195-45-16-)

These tires have some of the worst wet grip I've ever seen in my life. Very dangerous. Apparently longevity is more important than safety with these tires.

Comfort high ,price is ok,Aquaplaning good, handling wet and dry good, negative is tread life, they have A fuel consumption and wet grip, and "sacrifice" tread life of the tire, overall is a good tire.

Driving on mostly town for 5 easy going miles
The worst tires that I have ever owned. They wore out in 14 months (they were fitted to our brand new car) and were horrible the entire time.
I complained numerous times to the dealership who called Goodyear each time and the Goodyear rep said that it had tone driving style. No, that is wrong, I was a professional driver for decades and never had any issue with any other tire.
They were unstable on the highway, the car would wander off to the left the the right with no steering input, back to the dealer who check the alignment and everything else they could think of and never found anything wrong.
I had a tire depth gauge because I also own classic cars that I restore as a hobby and used the gauge regularly each week because I could visually see that the tires had uneven wear.
Back to the dealer who checked alignment and everything else, and never found anything wrong but the wear was quite bizarre.
I accidentally heard the dealer talk to the regional Goodyear rep and they talked about a local restaurant so I asked and it turned out that the regional Goodyear office was barely 2 miles from my house so I got the address and went there.
The Goodyear rep was nice but did nothing for us at all, stating that some tires wear out faster and that some drivers are rough on their tires, no, I am not, this is definitely a problem unique to this tire.
I eventually got my point across and he let me walk into their warehouse where he showed me piles of thousands of Goodyear Integrity tires that had catastrophic failures, it was shocking to see so many thousands of failed tires piled up and the rep just shrugging his shoulders, not caring abut the failures.
Goodyear did nothing for us, they wore out 2 months after the warranty on the tires had expired (14 months, they only had a 12 month warranty) so Goodyear simply offered to mount a new set of Goodyear Integrity tires on our wheels if we paid full price for the tires.
No, that is just nonsense.
I left and purchased a set of Continental True Contact (now its the Continental True Contact Tour) which is fantastic, the car drives correctly, so it was obviously a tore problem, and we still have them on the car many years later proving that the driver was not at fault, the Continental tires are truly that much better.
Do not buy/use Goodyear Integrity tires, they are truly horrible and Goodyear has no integrity, they sold up an inferior product that is part of the safety system of our car and they did nothing to help us.

Writing about the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO given 100% (225-50-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 150 average miles
MY Car = Toyota Prius Plus.

Old Tire - Pirelli.

New Tire = Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO 215/50R17 95W XL

I would not say that Pirelli was a bad tire.
But as soon as I had replaced the front 2 old Pirelli tire with the new Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO 215/50R17 95W XL, I could see a drastic positive difference in my car.

Road grip was excellent and superb - Both dry and wet !
Noise inside the car was reduced.
I started enjoying my rides.

Look forward to replace my tires for the rear two wheels.

WIill always recommend and will buy again !

Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 easy going miles
Excellent tires I've done almost 30,000 miles on a set just ordered another pair for front of my 2017 Prius. Improve fuel economy to average around 75 mpg. Simply the best on a hybrid such as mine weather they will be as good on a different car is another story

The first set of these tires I bought several years ago (2014) lasted about 7 years of daily commuting. I got over 60k miles out of them and was forced to replace them not because they'd worn out (they still had legal tread on them), but because they had aged to the point where they'd developed micro fractures all over the sidewalls. I've never had a set of tires last so long. They're okay in wet weather (no aqua-planing), and the grip in the dry of the first set was absolutely impeccable. These are Low Rolling Resistance tires and their main party trick is enhancing high MPG figures on my 2008 Prius Tspirit Hybrid. In summer, I get over 60+ MPG and over 600 miles out of just short of a 45 Litre fuel tank. My best MPG record was in the summer of 2022, achieving 69.4 MPG with a mileage of 653 miles from the 45 Litre tank. I'm presently on a new set of the same tires, bought 2021, with the only strange thing being that on warm days, the tires make a strange wet sound on some warm to hot asphalt surfaces - in dry weather. They sound like "slick" tires - if that makes any sense (they don't sound like that on cold days) - otherwise, I'm very pleased with them. They're quiet and smooth on properly paved asphalt surfaces, though they'll feel harder if you pump them up to 37f /35r psi - but there's no loss of grip, regardless. They're rated to 51 psi.

I purchased these tires in June, 2023 at Discount Tire. At first I was happy with the purchase. The ride seemed smooth and not too noisy on normal asphalt roads. Then I drove on a grooved highway in Houston ( I10). My car ( Prius) would not track well and seemed to mildly shimmy. This would only happen on any grooved highway. Disheartening. Fortunately, Discount Tire is replacing the tires with the Ecopia model. I would have preferred the Ecopia + 422, but none were available. Hopefully, I will get a smooth, uneventful ride.

Driving on mostly motorways for 20 average miles
The tires are on a Toyota Prius, and the Prius is a fairly quiet car. The first thing I noticed when driving on these tires is how loud they are. It is like sitting in a room with a noise oscillator and the volume turned up to 80dbs (decibels) inside the car. I feel like I have to yell to talk to the person next to me. That being said, they are a fairly comfortable tire, but I would not say they are as comfortable as a Goodyear and far from a Michelin. They are wearing well and would be a good tire for someone that is taking a lot of trips and high mileage. I would not recommend these tires because I believe there are tires that are better for just a smaller margin in price.

I had toyo tries fitted in mat Totoyta Aqua (Prius C). I used them for 3 years. Excellent tires, really worth every penny. Brakes were good on dry and wet surfaces. the lower control arm bushing of my car got damaged but still the front tires did not wear a lot. Will definitely buy a new set. great tires.
