2021-08-26 - Hi, just put the Bridgestone Potenza sport 225/40-18 and 255/35-18 on my Meredes slk 55 amg, 2006. On saturday (28/8-21) i go for a trackday in Sweden and wondering what tire pressure this tire need on track? OEM car recommend is 2,2 and 2,4 bar...

Aim for those pressures when hot, so drop down to 2bar, warm up and then reduce the pressure to match recommendation.


2023-09-05 - Just checked my tire’s because l need to new fronts, on the back l have a Bridgestone sport on one side and a S005 on the other is this a problem?

The industry recommended matching tires across axles, so I do not recommend mixing a potenza sport and s005 on the same axle.

I have had these on the rear of my XFR for a few months now, it has the optional "R-S" size of 295/30/20. They get a hard life on a heavy >500bhp RWD car with quite relaxed electronics, and these are by far the best tires I have used on the rear of an XFR - various models of which have been my daily driver for 6.5 years now (about 90k miles covered in that time). TL;DR Great tire with a huge amount of dry/grip and excellent road feedback. Wear rate and noise is very high. Ride is firm.

This is my second review on TireReviews.com. My past tires on my 2017 (2018 for the Americans) Mazda 6 were a slightly-upsized 235/45/19 Yokohama V701. I've always been a fan of unidirectional and symmetrical tires, so the Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires were a departure from my previous bias.

For context, the Potenza Sport in my car's stock size was some 30% cheaper than the usual Michelin/Continental competitors, and just 5% more expensive than my prior set of Yokohamas. These prices are for Singapore, and for the record, temperatures range from 30-40 degrees Celsius all year round, and we get rain pretty often (50% chance throughout the year).

These tires GRIP. Whether its wet or dry, the confidence inspired by the Potenza Sports were always high. The stiff sidewalls translated to excellent feedback through the steering and I never once felt like the car would come loose. When it was dry and traffic was clear, the tire never failed to plant a smile on my face and it felt like I could never reach the tire's limits on public roads. In the wet, traffic tends to slow to a crawl in Singapore, but of the few times I had fun when it was raining here, the tire would still track very confidently around bends.

Now the negative feedback. The tires were fairly noisy even when new. And whilst the stiff sidewalls translated to excellent steering feedback and response, the ride was noticeably harsher and firmer.

As others have noted on this website, the wear rate is VERY high. I drove this car for 25k km (16k miles) when my car was 5 years old to 7.5 years old. At 7 years-old and my tires were at the 20k km (12k miles) mark, my independent mechanic (who does not sell tires) noted that my inside treads might not pass our local vehicle inspections (similar to UK's MOT, and our's is conducted biennially from the car's 3rd year onwards). For the record, I did manage to pass the test, thankfully.

I always had my car's tires rotated regularly at 6 months regardless of distance, and the wear rate was quite a surprise. I've attached a photo of one of my front tires at its end-of-life (2.5 years or use and at 25k km) and you can see that the inside tread is already at the treadwear indicators.

To be fair, I am running aftermarket camber bolts to for -1.5 degrees camber in the front. But to go back to my usual bias, I'm not able to do a proper cross-rotate to even out the inside tread for asymmetrical tires, which is a bit of a shame. If your car is running stock/less aggressive camber, I daresay you could eke out perhaps another 6k miles (10k km) out of the tire.

Due to the high wear rate, I've gone back to my old tire (Yokohama V701). My local tire shop gave me a very good price for the new set, so I'm happy to head back. Plus the V701's more relaxed nature probably suits the Mazda 6 better. I do miss the much better feedback and grip of the Bridgestone Potenza Sport, but the high wear rate was definitely a concern, despite its reasonable pricing.

I always had my cars on UUHP tires from Michelin, GY, Conti, and Bridgestone over the past 20+ years. This year I opted for Potenza Sport and I really love them. I can see that I made the right choice - the grip is simply relentless and fantastic feedback from the tires. Aquaplaning is also fantastic, considering how much faster I was able to push the car with confidence on autobahn during the pouring rain. Straight tracking is precise and the car is completely responsive to every input. Overall they feel like PZERO PZ4, but on a higher level in each discipline. Awesome tires and I recommend them 100%

Amazing performance tires. I had PS4 before and over my favourite mountains i was able to overheat. Potenza Sport on the same roads showed no dip in performance, they take longer to get heat up. In wet/cold and before they heat up they perform worse tho. Amazing tires for performance driving but you are giving up grip in worse conditions.

The tire as a whole is very nice and reliable, but care must be taken because the grip on dry when the tire is cold is less. However, once it reaches operating temperature the feeling is wonderful ! The feedback from the road and the feel in a corner is second to none. In the wet it also performs super. Just be careful on cold tarmac with cold tires - then there is a loss of grip. I've been driving the tires for about 8,000km, but it feels like the wear is a bit faster than I'd like.

I own a BMW X2 M35i. 225kw 450nm. It has power to burn, now it has the tires to match it. Dry grip it’s a fair bit ahead of the Pirelli Zero, it is way ahead in the wet grip! I use to race motorcycles, so I push the car to its limit a lot. The car has a limited slip differential on the front and the steering feedback is fantastic. Braking in dry and wet conditions is sensational. I can’t understand why some reviews bag the mileage out of these, I have done almost 20k and rotated them only last week as the fronts were scuffing up on the edges compared to the rears. 30k is achievable, easily. 40psi on the front and 38psi on the rear keeps things in balance. Comfort is average, but if you want comfort buy a S class Mercedes with touring tires. Would I buy these again, hell yes!

The tires were definitely great. Overall, there is plenty of grip in the dry, and pretty good feedback. Things change a bit in the rain, I would say that grip could be better, but it could also be down to the setup. One thing to really watch out for is the wear. In my experience, they have worn quite quickly, getting to the wear marker after about 20,000km. I have to admit, I drive quite quickly, but I would have expected a bit more mileage out of these tires. For the price, I would still recommend these tires. They offer great value for money.

I drove 35000km on the front and changed 2 set of rear tires.Tire Is very good on the dry only if bring it up to temperature and the steering response feels awesome. The wet performance are good enough and the braking Is on point as long as the tires are warm. The wear Is bad if you do fast road or trackday the shoulder of the tire It cooks loosing rubber tread. Now at the end of his Life the front end lost all of his grip Overall Is a good tire but for the price wear and comfort I do not recommend purchasing

Well, only 60km on these tires but I know my tires and drive (test drive) about 100 cars per year so I know what to look for. Every thing Jonathan said about them (for road use) is true. Direct steering, great braking performance and probably the less comfortable option between PS4S, GY SS.... I still need to test it more but from the little I did, it's a great tire (replaced GoodYear SS)

Hi, I honestly don't understand the reviews that complain about the duration, wear etc etc. giving a poor or mediocre rating to this tire. These are true and pure uhp, they have a monumental grip on dry and wet, they are super direct and super precise, and they brake well, STOP. There is nothing else to add. If you don't want to hear noise, if you want to consume less and if you want them to last longer, the fault is not of these fantastic tires, but yours that you have not understood that you are a touring tire user. So low reviews that talk about wear and noise on Uhp tires are laughable!

These Bridgestone, last 15,000.
They were noisy and handling skittish
The wear pattern was even.
Grip not as good as other brands in dry and wet.

Back again to update these tires last review I had covered 2k miles , just had them replaced after only lasting 8k yes just 8k (road use only)
These tires are not worth the money at all , not just because of the fast wear rate, there useless in the cold, they skip, even in the dry from stand still, they don’t improve they just get worst, road noise increases with wear, the turn in is not great , (my car is a standard Jcw not modified) it’s the first and last time I fit Bridgestone tires , the ps4 I had on when I purchased the car never skipped like the Bridgestones do , wet or dry roads ,
Been very undecided on what fit next, tho with only 2 reviews on the new Toyo proxes 2. Had the toyos fitted Only covered 500 mile and wow what a difference, there are great so far , very impressed, I will do a full review on toyos after covering 2k (under the Toyo proxes 2 )

After many and many Michelin Ps4 i wanted to try Bridgestone P.S. Is not easy to compare the tires because when you need to change the tires, you often have worn tires , however this Bridgestone are really good tires but I have travelled 5000 km and I think that will be a miracle if I get to 10/15000 ! Front tires (traction)are now at 50% but rear tires are ok !I must say that I use the car in " every day mode" and sometimes in "sport mode" but I cannot deny that Michelin is better in wear!
