225/50 18 Tire Review Highlights

Bridgestone Alenza 001 rated 81% while driving a Lexus UX
Driving on mostly motorways for 35000 average miles
The tires came as standard on my Lexus UX250H in 2023. Now, after 55k/km, they still have 5mm treads. So they do last, but the drawback is the noise they produce as they are RFT. Now I'm looking for something quieter, as most of my kilometres are completed on the Motorway and at high speeds; the noise is important. If I were driving at low speeds up to 60km/h and a hint of a motorway, I would definitely stick to these tires as they perform exceptionally well in both dry and wet conditions, especially here in Ireland, with no extreme low temperatures or snow these are right on spot for city commuting.

Michelin Primacy 5 rated 91% while driving a Honda HRV 2022
Driving on a combination of roads for 2200 average miles
I have currently driven 3500 km, mostly on highways and country roads. My car is a full-hybrid Honda, which can go few kilometers in electric-mode; I don't drive "racing mode" but not even "grandpa style"; just enjoying the pleasure of driving. These Primacy are really quiet, you almost can't even hear a rolling noise when driving with open windows on a good asphalt; on poor roads, more noise can be heard. On wet, it mostly feels like you are driving on dry asphalt, considering traction and stability. In the very early kilometers, tires gave a "metallic" hard feeling, which disappeared in few weeks.

Michelin Primacy 4 rated 83% while driving a Mazda 6
Driving on a combination of roads for 54000 average miles
Owned this tire since early 2022 and i clocked 53k km on this tire. I think it deserve a review from me

I usually drove my car to work, pick up my kid and once a yr i will travel for a roadtrip which is ard 1k km distance

For normal city drive whether is wet or drive, the grip is excellent, no complain and as long is below 110km/h i think this tire is great.

My only complain is when im travelling high speed during my road trip, my car seems floaty. Not sure is it because or my suspension , it just feel floaty .

I think i must praise abt this tire, after 3yrs n 53k km mileage, the tread is still alot.

Hankook Ventus Prime 4 rated 83% while driving a Mazda CX 3
Driving on mostly town for 100 average miles
Swap the OEM Toyo R52A (215/50/R18) to Prime 4 (225/50/R18). The R52A has just been droved for 21k KM (2 years old -- 4.3mm left) but it has shown some hair cracks on.
- Grip: Similar to Toyo.
- Braking: Shorter than Toyo, but probably affected from wider tire contact area.
- Noise: Significantly reduced than Toyo
- Comfort: On par to more comfort on Hankook than Toyo.

Still unknown for the longevity and prime 4 capability on dealing water puddle in southeast Asia.

Michelin CrossClimate 2 rated 85% while driving a BMW BMW X1
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 easy going miles
Had to wait 6 years before I had to replace the original tires on my car, as I don't do a high mileage per year. Very expensive compared to the prices given on this page - £900 for a full set.
What a difference, at last I felt as if I was in control of the car. The grip in the wet is great as well as in the dry and quiet too.
Always preferred Michelin since I changed to them on my bicycle in the 1950's, yes I'm that old. Been motoring since 1964 and had numerous cars so I think I know something.

Bridgestone Turanza T005 rated 69% while driving a BMW X1 X Drive
Driving on mostly town for 15000 average miles
Good tire. I would definitely buy it again if it was on sale but I feel like for the price. It doesn't last long. My car is mainly forward wheel drive and the front ones lasted like 15k miles.. the back will probably last up to 20k miles.

Kumho WinterCraft Ice rated 76% while driving a Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6
Driving on mostly country roads for 1500 spirited miles
Tread pattern on this tire is directional, so 2 are being used on rear axle only. Car is a fairly heavy rwd with a limited slip diff, so the tires get some help. Grip is good in snow. Tires are composed when powered through rutted, hilly b-roads. Tires can be composed when navigating uphill on snow-covered roads.

However, it seems the Wi31 have a tendency to allow snap oversteer when approaching WoT. The slide itself is predictable and possible to reel in.

In general: grip levels are good, but once lost, the tire struggles to respond under continued throttle.

No comment on ice as there are no studs installed on the tires. Wear is noticeable outside of snow. Comfort is not an issue, nor is it a real strength.

This (Wintercraft Wi31) is a fairly old model, and you should be able to find discounts. It's important to make sure you check the manufacture year of your tire (XXYY) -> XX = week of manufacture, YY = year of manufacture. You may not want a "new" tire that is in reality a year or two old, since it means it sat in a warehouse in unknown conditions for a long time!

Goodride All Season Elite Z 401 rated 86% while driving a BMW 118d M Sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 easy going miles
Sporty driving style, the tire performs excellently in any situation. Good grip on wet and dry surfaces, decent behavior on snow or ice, however on par with renowned tires.

Michelin Primacy 4 rated 83% while driving a Lexus GS
Driving on mostly town for 1000 easy going miles
Complete set installed in April 2024. For now, they feel much quieter and more comfortable than the dunlop sp050. We see how it behaves over time.

Falken EUROWINTER HS02 Pro rated 94% while driving a Toyota CHR Hybrid
Driving on mostly town for 3000 average miles
After my first winter of driving on them I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. It snowed quite a bit here compared to other years and despite the model not reviewing that well in snow conditions, it performed admirably, even in deeper snow. What really impressed me however was its dry and wet performance, it genuinely felt like a summer tire no matter how cold it got.
