225/55 17 Tire Review Highlights

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 rated 66% while driving a Mazda 6 Wagon
Driving on mostly country roads for 10000 average miles
TLDR: perfomance decline after just 2 seasons!

Driving in Finland, I bought a set of these based on the stellar reviews. For 2 seasons it was great. Especially in the snow and on white ice. Black ice performance was ok, but not great. Average in the dry and wet (to be expected).
During the 3rd season the performance declined significantly. I got stuck in downtown Helsinki on a snowy icy patch of tarmac while parking, other cars(regular 2wd) left the same spot even on studless tires without issues. Even the slightest icing / slush on the roads were too much. I lost confidence in the tire, I reported it to Nokian and they took the tires for inspection after the 3rd season. Without doing any tests they sent it back and said it was all ok. Never buying a Nokian again, it seems the lifetime of these tires is 2 seasons, even when there is plenty of tread remaining.

Continental UltraContact rated 76% while driving a Subaru Forester
Driving on mostly country roads for 15000 spirited miles
Drives great, in dry and wet and handling inspires confidence. All good stuff. But was wore out in 20/30,000 km. The Yokohama Geolanders I had before these got almost 80,000km. Not as good but lasted a lot longer. I got the UC6 at half price but still not great value. maybe the big chip and gravel wore out the compound. No punctures thru and took them on mild off road terrain.

Maxtrek MAXIMUS M1 rated 47% while driving a BMW 520d
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
Out of necessity I had to go with Maxtrek Maximus M2 tires. They’re absolute garbage heavy vehicles like BMW 5er. They’re on rear axil and just does tail spin all the time while negotiating roundabouts in wet conditions. I’m so scared to go at 80 in wet conditions. NEVER AGAIN.

Falken Azenis FK520 rated 81% while driving a Mercedes Benz E220Cdi

Falken ZIEX ZE914 EcoRun rated 94% while driving a Mercedes Benz Vito
Driving on a combination of roads for 30 average miles
I have had these tires for about 3 years. I estimate I've travelled 50,000+ km's.
I'm now due to replace all 4
We have done done quite a few 2,000 k'm trips on good quality highways. The tires were excellent in wet and dry and hard braking.
We have always felt safe driving with these tires.
For me, personally, the steering is always the most important. The only issue I've had has been a screw in the front driver side tire. Still, the tire has held firm. Thus why I'm now replacing all 4 as the wear mark is also approaching. This is my 2nd set and I'm definitely considering these again
Sometimes, it's worth paying a 'little more' knowing the quality is never compromised
Tires have always been 'noise free' and the ride has been very comfortable. Vito's are a good ride anyway
I bought this Vito with 199,000 and some Chinese tires, they were very noisy and a little loose on roundabouts and 90' corners.
The Falken have always handled well.
I am very satisfied with this brand and tire design.
I would definitely recommend them and, No, I'm not on the payroll Ha ha. I am an average road user and bought this Vito in 2016
I am currently upto 291,000 km's
The tire wear has been even right across the tread pattern. I hope this helps other drivers.
I have also carried motorcycles in the rear and again, the drive was easy.

Michelin CrossClimate Plus rated 84% while driving a Volkswagen (B8) 1.4 TSI (150 Hp) DSG ACT
Driving on a combination of roads for 22000 average miles
Used on 1.5 ton sedan for about 35 000km/22 000 miles now. Note that the actual car is Renault Talisman but I selected Passat as closest thing available size/weight wise

PROS:
- dry feedback/handling - I can do way over speed limit outside of towns (glides through corners at 120km/h even now); you feel a pronounced 'edge' when turning at high speed feeling the limit
- master snow grip - went on not cleaned street and did sharp acceleration, braking, twitching steering wheel left-right; best I got was millllld understeer, VERY safe tire on snow
- wear - just passed my registration/inspection, they still feel 90% like they did when new, it's incredible. Visual inspection shows fronts a bit more worn (torque heavy diesel engine)
- with wear in mind, actually great value. Even though they were a bit more pricey initially, it all gets leveled with time

CONS:
- wet performance is great in straight line (aquaplaning etc.) but is average at best in sharp turns, I once understeered to an incoming lane at 35kph sharp corner during a rainy day
- CC2 went too far towards snow grip which makes it hard for me to recommend the current model

Michelin Primacy 4 Plus rated 57% while driving a SEAT Altea
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 average miles
For the first time in a decade I decided to use Michelin tires again. I splurged on a set of 4 Primacy 4+. The performance of the tire doesn't let me down it is what I expected. Fells very safe on any road. However these tires make a very loud and dreadful drone on my Skoda Yeti. So annoying. I have to exceed 70 MPH in order to find a sweet spot that the noise id lessened. I guess I am stuck with these for a few years now. I will go back to Hankook when I buy tires again.

Continental AllSeasonContact 2 rated 84% while driving a BMW 520d
Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 average miles
I bought these tires in March. I'll start with the negative feedback. After 10,000 miles on a BMW 520d, I have 4-5mm tread left on them. I think I will have them for another 5000 miles until I have to change them. Compared to Michelin Cross Climate, which I had for 25,000 miles on a BMW 320d, these ones wear too soon. I have tested them on snow only for a bit while I got caught by the Welsh weather. :D They act good. I had grip and good control of the car. In spring/summer conditions they are almost like a summer tire: great grip, handling and short breaking distance. Overall I'm happy with their performance, but not with their wear, considering I'm doing 90% of miles on motorways.

Three A Farroad FRD 26 rated 77% while driving a Mitsubishi ASX Outlander Sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 spirited miles
used this on my Mitsu ASX with adjustable suspension and uprated ARB. Tire have about 50% tread left. This tire shine provided you gave it abit more air pressure ie 1-2psi cold.
dry grip is excellent, raining can have confidence to drive around 100kmh ( I can speed more if I want but prefer to be safe) Will definitely buy again.
Air pressure normally set at 34psi cold

Hankook Winter I cept RS3 rated 67% while driving a Honda Accord Euro
Driving on mostly town for 3000 spirited miles
I'm pretentious where many might be not. So the noise for me is a huge dissapointment, I should have known but I just didn't think clearly before buying, other winter tires can get to 69 DB, this one is 72 DB for my tire spec size. And it's LOUD inside the cabin compared to my continental efficientgrip summer tires.
Other than that, snow, rain are very good. Feels safe even at 160-200 km/h. Comfort is kinda lower than a summer tire for me and it feels softer when steering.
It does the job done but.... one tire cracked for me, and I didn't hit ANYTHING and very low mileage maybe no more than 4000 kms, so I just changed that one tire but it definitely gives me a bad and cheap feel about them right now, scary actually. I hit some car breaking holes with the summer tire and no issues so that's what I'm comparing with.

The noise just makes me regret them so much though :(, I might end up selling them, that bad for me, but they were pretty pricey so I might just be stuck with them as I don't wanna lose too much money on them. 100 Euros per tire and I had higher expectations from the reviews.

Tomket Sport 3 Series 3 rated 78% while driving a Vauxhall Insignia CDTI 160
Driving on a combination of roads for 1 spirited miles
Having just purchased these tires from Online merchant I can say that although I was annoyed that these are another China made tire when I thought Tomket tires were made in Serbia, I have been reasonably impressed with them. These are a reinforced extra load tire which makes them stronger & more stable feeling than the previous budget tires fitted to our Insignia Cdti. As this is a fast powerful car I wanted tires up to the demands of the use it will be getting. So far no complaints. Though not tried them in wet conditions yet, hence no feedback on that & not had long enough to say about wear rate either..! Apparently these are a popular brand on Continent so I hear.. Will update on other feedback etc in due course..

Bridgestone Turanza 6 rated 81% while driving a Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTi SE sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 18000 spirited miles
Absolutely fantastic
Immense wet grip,
Makes monsoon weather feel like a dry day.
Very resistant to aquaplaning
Increased my MPG with extra urban driving from 39mpg to 44mpg

A little floaty initially in the dry, after 2-300 miles bedded in a gives very impressive grip considering its a touring tire.

Leans towards understeer when push very hard but actually hops slightly instead of sliding, never felt the back end slide even with lift of mid corner.
