185/60 15 Tire Review Highlights

Kumho Solus 4S HA32 Plus rated 71% while driving a Opel meriva
Driving on a combination of roads for 45000 spirited miles
In snow, the longitudinal (throttle, brake) feels very weak. But the lateral grip is somehow perfectly fine. Its characteristics make it unsteady to drive, because it gives much more in a corner than in a single brake application, where you have to count on it to slide.

Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 rated 60% while driving a Toyota Yaris
Driving on mostly town for 30000 average miles
Driven 50k kilometers for 7 years. Tire is generally Ok. Still have 4 mm tread depth. Still no grip issue but considering replace due to micro cracks seen on tread.

Nokian SeasonProof 1 rated 87% while driving a Toyota Yaris
Driving on for 0 easy going miles
Previously, I had the Toyo Proxes Comfort, which I replaced with the Seasonproof1. I chose these tires based on the promises of the old model, which has been further improved. The tire feels safe, stable on the road, and the steering is quite responsive and precise compared to the old Toyo summer tires. Moreover, the car is now much more comfortable and smooth. I haven't tested it in wet conditions yet, but based on my extensive experience with driving and tires, they should perform excellently, especially in heavy rain/sleet. I will update my review soon

Kleber Krisalp HP3 rated 75% while driving a Skoda Unknown
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 spirited miles
My fifth consecutive winter on this set of tires, and the Kleber are often competitive performers in their own right in smaller sizes and higher profiles. Decent feedback throughout the operating spectrum, I've always sensed the limits and never felt I don't know what's going on. Dry cornering grip swiftly washes out in higher temperatures -- it is a winter tire after all (a few comments on this at the end). Otherwise, in its operating range it is utterly predictable in normal driving and progressive in its tendency to understeer. In the wet, well tested this winter, it's agile and grippy, resisting aquaplaning very well particularly in corners. A question mark over straight line performance in big puddles as it has worn, more cautious. Braking - well in all the above, as I don't seem to have tested its limits so far, thankfully. Not even one ABS shudder. Snow, mainly fresh or slushy, very good grip and handling. Less experience of durably packed sub-zero snow over these years, even at higher altitude.
This brings me to my comment. My natural environment for the past three decades has largely been subalpine, and within a handful of kms in all directions winter tires are compulsory. And yes, in practice they have been a must. Even with the noticeable impact of changing climate a grippier tire in winter remains essential because of the risk of a sudden if short-lived return of snowfall just when you're out there. Firstly, this tire has been my faithful and robust workhorse, coping with the associated crud like mud streams, fallen branches, rocks and stones, and holes that are now more frequently found on 'warmer' but wet alpine roads, and without warning. It's kept me and my car safe.
Secondly, I'll be moving shortly but will still be around these parts in winter. I'm wondering if my winter swap won't be to an all-seasons tire (I value summer tires in summer). I'd like to see more testing of all tires at or beyond the upper extremes of their temperature ranges (eg. 10-17°C and 32-45°C - these have been my realities for the last decade).
No comment on wear - difficult to judge through the low mileage Covid years, plus tires make immense progress in the time that I keep a set. One final comment: in general, I've had better experiences with smaller cars on winter tires.

Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 rated 47% while driving a SEAT Toledo
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
First winter the tires were good. The next one almost crashed twice. Almost no grip on snow and ice. Wet was acceptable, but still bad. For 3 winters (probably ~15000 km), already below 4mm tread. I'll never buy them again.

Nordman North 9 rated 83% while driving a Toyota Yaris
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
At first I was skeptical about this tire, as I live in Canada Calgary, snowfalls are high and this tire brand is new and has no reviews online. The tread design is based on the Nokian Hakka 9.

Dry, the noise is noticeable because of the studs, but in wet conditions you won’t notice the noise which actually surprised me. I have driven over 100 km/h on wet conditions, it’s quiet.

In the snow, it handles amazingly. I have entered tight corners at (40 km/h) to see if the car would understeer or oversteer. Guess what? It doesn’t, it keeps me stable.
In the ice, lots of traction from stop and go. (Sometimes I drive aggressively but most of the time I drive normally and slow)
In slight curves, (driving fast, not highway but on residential roads, people in my area drive 30-40 km/h on those curves but I drive 60 km/h on those curves) i can predict that the car is going to slip or not which is a good thing as the tire is predictable.
For the studs, compared to Nokian Hakka 9, even though it has the same tread design, the studs on nokian hakka 9 have 2 types of studs, the triangular one on the shoulders. On the north 9, the shoulder studs and middle studs are all the same and no triangular ones.

I was about to buy the continental VikingContact 7 but I decided to go for this tire as it was cheaper and has studs.

Avon ZT7 rated 60% while driving a Skoda Unknown
Driving on mostly town for 23000 average miles
Two tires at 3 years old and use, with 23,000 miles, 4 mm of tread, they had cracks close-ish to the wheel bead on the inside of the wheel so not generally seen but deep enough for MoT failure. Very disappointing. I bought these as Avon used to be a British company and used to make good tires (at reasonable prices) sadly no longer British nor good tires in this experience. Another problem is another two of the same tire were fitted two years later (just over a year, 10k-miles, ago) to make a set of four so crawling under the car with a torch may soon be required to check those. I will report on that set with another review after three years of their life, or at end of their life.

Dunlop Sport BluResponse rated 57% while driving a Suzuki Swift
Driving on mostly town for 20 average miles
Since day 1 i wasn't satisfied with those tires. I drove mostly in the city and they are terrible. I only have two big trips and they are good on nice open and wet roads, especially when they are warm but they need a lot of time to warm up in the city and there is no traction even with a light rain. They are quiet and last though. Today i had my tires changed and try my luck with another big brand, witch is a lot cheaper too and the first impressions are good. So i dont think i m gonna put dunlops again.
