205/60 16 Tire Review Highlights

Sava Eskimo HP2 rated 58% while driving a Toyota Avensis estate 1.8 petrol
Driving on mostly motorways for 300 spirited miles
This is initial review of mine (only 500km). I have ridden dozens of winter tires in past 30 years and have tested even more since I was working in automotive industry for 25 years.
So far haven’t tested them on snow and ice but i do on dry and wet roads 0-7C
These tires on dry road are average at best. They are wallowy and have poor lateral grip although they hold decent speeds before they start loosing grip. They are very imprecise and often need correction while in curve.
Wet performance is below average it was even worse experience than on dry roads.
I hope they will perform better on snow and ice since Sava Eskimo S3+ was better than most premium tires at those conditions.

Triangle Snowlink PL01 rated 90% while driving a Skoda Octavia estate
Driving on a combination of roads for 300 easy going miles
Installed the tires few weeks ago. Well, they haven't killed me yet. Quite contrary - I feel they are nice and comfortable tires on wet and dry asphalt. Very soft and smooth and the car feels very eager to roll along. No noticeable fuel economy change compared to summer tires.
Granted, I have yet to see any snow or ice with them, but I'm fairly certain I will survive the winter.
Will report back once winter is done. Initial phase is promising.

Driving on mostly town for 75000 average miles
I put these tires on my wifes Urban Cruiser for the second time now. They wear really well and they are really good value for money.

Hankook Winter i pike RS2 rated 86% while driving a Hyundai i40 sedan
Driving on mostly motorways for 25000 average miles
One of my favorite parts of the tire is its side grip. I think it handles good in all conditions and is reliable on unexpected black ice and ice in general.
I haven't measured the rubber tear but I can say that the studs are very firmly attached even after 2-3 years of driving.
This is my 3rd set on 3 different cars :)

Nereus NS805 Plus rated 90% while driving a BMW 318D
Driving on mostly town for 25000 spirited miles
Great tires compared to michelin alipin 5. Both tires served perfectly for 2 seasons, but i don't recommend using them in the 3rd season. I recommend these tires. Price and quality is very good.

Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 rated 76% while driving a Toyota Pro ace city
Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 average miles
One of the best winter tire I've ever had. Good everywhere: dry, wet, ice, snow. Maybe the weakest point is very deep snow. Than it is a bit limited, but nothing ot worry about. But the wear is terrible. It only lasted ~15000 km. And that is it. A bit dissapointing to be honest.

Kumho Ecsta PS71 rated 100% while driving a Volvo V70D5
Driving on a combination of roads for 18000 spirited miles
Surprisingly good tires, both on dry and wet roads, I've never had a problem with braking, skidding, or aquaplaning. I can only recommend them.

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 rated 100% while driving a Kia Motors Soul EV
Driving on mostly country roads for 18 average miles
So far 18k miles covered in a Kia Soul EV, fronts are down to 5mm and rears are at 7mm. There's every indication that at least 30k on the fronts will be possible. They are excellent in snow even restarting uphill in deep snow with no wheelspin. The tires inspire confidence on wet roads and only very rarely induce any wheelspin when pulling away. They are quiet and perform their function without any fuss, the grip and handling are superb. I will definitely replace the fronts with another pair when needed.

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 rated 60% while driving a Skoda Kamiq
Driving on mostly town for 2500 average miles
This is an initial review - they came with a brand new Skoda Kamiq. The rubber is fresh, when feeling it - it is not hard. DOT indicates manufacture in 2024.
I have very mixed opinion of these tires. I will make a follow up in a couple of years how they are behaving.

The upside - they are quiet. They have low rolling resistance. To the level that I did manage to pull off very good mileage when driving conservatively. After 4000km it is not possible to say that they are wearing fast or slow. Handling is very good - a new car so any downsides should be visible already. Great during the summer, tried braking hard - very good traction. Slippage minimal.

The downside - these tires are meant for driving over 10 degrees Celsius and dry. Wet handling and braking is very bad, especially for a premium brand. They slip easily, lots of understeer. It is very easy to lose traction when trying to take off on a green light - come on, this is 1.0 tsi, this does not have all that power to be able to skid - and I am not talking about pushing the metal to the pedal - I am talking normal driving. I will be changing to winter tires sooner, because in the mixed weather they are straight dangerous !

I have another car with Nexen mid range tires, 2 years old, and they behave far, far better in the wet than these Goodyears.

Something is wrong with these tires. This is a third time that the OEM tires that come with the vehicle behave like this - as if for OEM the manufacturer traded grip for longevity. Same was with Pirelli Cinturato P4 on Grande Punto (140000km to 2mm), same was with Bridgestone ER on Opel Meriva (90000km to 4mm)

Oh well, maybe my luck!

Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 rated 96% while driving a Volkswagen Caddy
Driving on a combination of roads for 27961 average miles
These tires came with the car, really good. Good comfort, low noise levels.
I bought them because they had an sealent that would be good against punctures but this year we didn't get any nails or screw, so we never got to try out if they held.
Felt secure on rainy days, while the treads worns out the more we reduce the speed on wet roads.

Half of the life of the tires we rotated them.

We could probably have them on for 12427 miles more, but colder weahter is coming!

Continental AllSeasonContact 2 rated 99% while driving a Ford Transit Connect
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
I absolutely love these tires, I’ve always had summer budgets/mid ranges on the van and have been caught in snow a few times in winter and nearly come a cropper, let me tell you I will never go back to budget/mid range summer tires ever again! these are so much more refined, comfortable and by Jove they’re grippy plus my mpg has gone from 61.7 to 65!

top marks to continental I am one happy customer.

Michelin CrossClimate 2 rated 92% while driving a Kia Motors Niro
Driving on a combination of roads for 59 easy going miles
It was because watching these testing videos I am on my second set of 205/60R16 NA CC2 tires and also on a 21+ old mini van with different sizes. Frist set of H-Speed I drove them for 59,000 miles/95,000 KM with 50% tire wear & sold them used before the warranty was up for 50% of the purchased price. Second set is V-Speed due to H-Speed not available at Costco, 28,000miles/45,000Km so far (one rear tire were punctured @ 25,500 miles/41,000 KM & replaced with a new tire based on 5-year Pro-rated replacement warranty and paid $19.29 USD Tax-in since only ~1mm of 10mm was worn out) . The Micheline X-Ice Xi3 I had on the same vehicle before which required paying twice a year to swap our for storage is no longer needed.

As a mild FWD HEV driver that usually drives/coast/avoid full red light stops when possible within 60 miles/100 KM speed limit genteelly around hilly country roads & some highways, the rolling resistance & excellent aquaplaning resistance (great with water & slushy snow) provides great return millage:

Summer average H-Speed: 61.16 US-MPG / 73.46 UK-MPG / 26.00 KM/L / 3.85 L/100 KM
Summer average V-Speed: 58.81 US-MPG / 70.63 UK-MPG / 25.00 KM/L / 4.00 L/100 KM - average may improve as the tires treads wears down & gets lighter

Winter Average H-Speed: 55.28 US-MPG / 66.40 UK-MPG / 23.5 KM/L / 4.26 L/100 KM
Winter Average V-Speed: 52.93 US-MPG / 63.57 UK-MPG / 22.5 KM/L / 4.44 L/100 KM - average may improve as the tire treads wears down & gets lighter / 1300W Heater activates ICE effects MPG

5%-10% better handling in server wet & dry driving speed is a second importance to me based on my driving styles so CC2 does more than just fine. Based on my location risk assessments, the worst condition to have any accident and getting help even just for once would be in the wintery condition for me as I have driven through combinations of ice, freezing rain, wet snow storm and 1~1.5 ft of unplowed packed snow & plowed snowbanks all on the same day a few times so CC2 meets my need the most. I had drove through a few ~6" flooded roads and CC2 did amazingly as long as I drive slowly with common sense. The factory Micheline Energy Saver A/S equipped on many HEV are only great in millage in warm weather, only good on straight dry roads, needs to SLOW WAY DOWN in wet and a FULL DEATH TRAP in snow & ice.

The best benefit I did not expect when switching to a set of All-Weather 3PMSF (snow flak symbol) insurance discount approved tires is during temperature swings, sometimes over 68F/20C within the day, day to day or back & forth between weeks especially during the beginning & the end of the winter months. I used to regrade often changing the tires too early or too late when temperature changes dramatically like from 14F/ -10C to 59F/ 15C in one day especially when ice forming on the road overnight and warm up in the afternoon and back to freezing in the night. Now I just make sure the tires are rotated every 6,000 miles/10,000 KM (front/back for directional tires), tire pressure meets the temperature range throughout the day/week with a portable battery/12V tire pressure pump, get in the car and drive without any worries of ice, snow, rain or sun!

Thank you again for these excellent tire test videos and the dedication you have put yourself into helping us to avoid accidents and save lives on the road. If possible, if you could also make the same tests on all theses tires ware down to 2mm... It would be first of it's kind &... EPIC (not sure some of the tire manufactures would be very pleased thought but... we will!)!
